Senior Network Engineer

Position Overview

My start up client is looking for a very well-rounded, experienced Network Engineer to join a team of Production Systems, dedicated to improving the reliability of our end-to-end platform.

Our systems serve billions of requests per day and process terabytes of log and interaction data daily.

In this role you will dive deep into operational issues, from the programming, systems, automation, and process perspectives. We have network equipment from Cisco, Citrix, Juniper and F5.

There is substantial opportunity to learn a lot while working on our team. Everything from Layer 2 switching to routing (BGP) to load balancing to LDAP, NTP, CDN, monitoring and more.

Responsibilities

Serving as the focal point for all network related topics inside the tech ops
organization

Design Network solutions for new applications, services and sites.

Being in charge of Cyber-Security for the company

Troubleshoot issues across the entire network stack: ISPs, Routers, firewalls, switches, load balancers etc

Identify and drive opportunities to improve automation for the company; scope and create automation for deployment, management and visibility of our services

Requirements

At least 3 years' hands on experience with the following platforms (Deep knowledge and ability to manage, design and operate)

Cisco Switches: Nexus 9000, 5000 and 3000 series, Catalyst 2900 series.

Cisco Routers: ASR Series

Juniper SRX and EX Series

Deep knowledge in firewalls (Cisco ASA etc)

Expertise in Load Balancing technologies – Using f5 Big IP, Citrix NetScalers and haproxy.

Knowledge in virtual environment switching – Nexus 1000, vmware dvSwitch.

Practical, solid knowledge of shell scripting.

Demonstrable knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, web application security, and experience
supporting multi-tier web application architectures

Deep knowledge in WAN and LAN system design, in a multi sited, hybrid cloud environment.

Must work well with and be able to influence countless personalities at all levels

Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently

Must be adaptable and able to focus on the simplest, most efficient & reliable solutions

Track record of successful practical problem solving, excellent written and interpersonal communication, and documentation skills
