Desktop Support Specialist

Pleasanton, CA

4 month - potential for extension

Rotating on-call schedule which includes night, weekends and holidays

The project is to replace user laptops and desktop computers in an enterprise environment.

This will include imaging using company tools, scheduling, inventory management, installing applications, and moving client data.

The candidate will need to be organized and have good customer service skills.

Incumbant will provide technical support to business area management and staff for personal computer systems software, hardware and network connectivity.

Installs, configures and troubleshoots desktop systems, workstations and network connectivity issues. May assign and maintain user passwords for specialized software.

Qualifications:

PC based desk-side hardware and software support

Prior experience with Remedy or other ticketing systems

Exposure to Microsoft Windows client architecture and working knowledge of a broad range of applications

Job Duties:

Provides end user support of all IT managed systems and applications

Works independently to resolve prioritized requests while maintaining accurate and thorough documentation, complete ticketing history to document analysis, diagnosis, and resolution plus future preventive actions.

Follows a prescribed trouble-shooting methodology to consistently and efficiently resolve customer requests.

Recognize and document recurring problems and patterns of problems within the environment.

Appropriately determines when to escalate to the next level of support.

Create and maintain knowledge procedures

Provides on call support as part of a rotating schedule.

Qualifications:

Support and troubleshoot PC related hardware and software

Certifications in Microsoft Windows and/or A+ desired

Dell certification or the ability to obtain certification within 3 months.

LAN/WAN troubleshooting and administration skills desired

High School diploma and formal training in current Microsoft Windows client platforms.

Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously in a timely manner, and be able to meet assigned deadlines and service levels.

Microsoft Office applications, remote control software, anti-virus, remote access
software.

Troubleshooting experience with hardware and software, including remote access/VPN and wireless networking.
