Job Description

Overview:

The IT Security Program Manager will manage the portfolio of IT Security process and technology projects assigned by the Director of IT Security.

The IT Security Program Manager will have responsibility for key IT Security initiatives with the objective to improve effectiveness and efficiency of information security solutions and meet stakeholder requirements for implementation.

The key aspects of this role include process improvement; project coordination, planning, and execution; security architecture, engineering, strategy and roadmaps; and security performance.

Expertise in leading security project teams and developing and managing security projects is essential for success in this role.

In addition to supporting the Director of IT Security, the IT Security Program Manager must prioritize other work efforts such as balancing operational tasks with long-term strategic security efforts, program management tasks which include resource balancing across multiple IT and security teams, and vendor relationship management.

Responsibilities:

Work with Director of IT Security to define and implement a security program and projects that address identified IT/Security risks and fulfill business security requirements.

Collaborate with Director of IT Security to develop budget projections based on short- and long-term goals and objectives. Communicate roadmap to achieve executive buy-in.

Work with Director of IT Security and stakeholders to define metrics and reporting strategies that effectively communicate successes and progress of the security program.

Ensure that there is a convergence of business, technical and security requirements by working with IT Portfolio and IT operations teams; liaise with IT management to align
existing technology base and skills with future architectural requirements.

Build knowledge across departments to gather and understand the varying perspectives on the IT Security program and its solutions – people, process and technology.

Act as a liaison with vendors and the legal and purchasing departments to establish mutually acceptable contracts and service-level agreements.

Consult with IT and security staff to ensure that security is factored into the evaluation, selection, installation and configuration of hardware, applications and
software.

Manages the portfolio of security projects and provide expert guidance on security matters for other IT projects.

Research, evaluate, design, test, recommend and plan the implementation of new or updated information security hardware or software; and analyze its impact on the existing environment; provide technical and managerial expertise for the administration of security.

Anticipate trends both in terms of process and technology. Maintain awareness of best practices and competitive intelligence.

Design, coordinate and oversee security testing procedures to verify the security of systems, networks and applications, and manage the remediation of identified risks.

Make key tradeoff, risk, and other critical decisions for the security program, taking
into account all perspectives.

Champion change and innovation in the area of IT Security, socializing a forward-thinking program of security projects and a technology roadmap.

Organize project teams based on resource estimates, determining the appropriate skills and roles needed; Resolve resource, timing or other conflicts between projects & groups.

Education and/or Experience:

Required:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

A minimum of 7 years of experience leading programs of projects balancing a variety of perspectives and interests

A minimum of 3 years of experience creating and managing security and/or technology product roadmaps, including enhancement and other user requests

Demonstrated experience in multiple IT functional disciplines (e.g. Business Analysis,
Project Management, Systems Development, Infrastructure Architecture, Information Security, Quality Assurance, etc.)

Successful management of IT Security initiatives including, but not limited to: Network Firewalls, IPS and Proxy technology; Enterprise Security solutions like Anti-virus and
SIEM; and Endpoint Security technologies.

Preferred:

Master's Degree in Computer Science, Business, or Management Information Systems

Information Security certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CISA)

Law firm experience
