Network Architect

JOB SUMMARY:

A Network Architect is responsible for leading the development of Network / Voice
Architectural standards, ensuring technology initiatives are implemented within the framework, and leading technology solution initiatives with the Network / Voice Engineering team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for developing and recommending Data/Voice Network Architecture standards.

Provides technical leadership for complex projects and ensures the success of enterprise-level network/voice technology solution activities.

Produces and reviews solutions ensuring standards are enforced, best practices are implemented, documentation is accurate, and sufficient for deployment, operations, and engineering teams.

Works in conjunction with product application and infrastructure teams to create a technology and product roadmap.

Creates and manages Data/Voice Network Technology Roadmap with participation from the
Network Engineering team.

Develops and maintains documentation of all Data/Voice Network Architecture design, policies, standards, and analysis work. Supports IT Application & Relationship Managers by acting as a Data/Voice Network consultant to understand and develop solutions for the business.

Provides technical guidance to project team areas as appropriate.

Functions as a subject matter expert and internal consultant to IT management.

Keeps current on industry trends and maintains knowledge of new technologies.

May participate in the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of IT within the organization.

Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.

Where applicable and when performing the responsibilities of the job, employees are accountable to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adhere to internal control policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Comprehensive knowledge of complex Infrastructure and Data/Voice Network solutions.

In depth knowledge of network architectures involving technologies such as QoS, load balancing, routing protocols, and network access control. Architectural, design, and hands on experience with major networking, voice vendors (Cisco, Juniper, F5, Palo Alto).

Experience with enterprise data center architectures and DC facility design (cabling standards, cabinet designs, power distribution).

In-depth understanding of virtualized environments (compute, storage, and network) including automation. Experience with call center design, including but not limited to call delivery options, application integration, and autodialer solutions.

Excellent leadership skills and an entrepreneurial spirit to develop best of breed TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) solutions for the organization.

Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.

Ability to translate business needs into Solution Architecture requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related equivalent work experience.

Five years of experience with a major focus on Enterprise level Networking, and Voice Engineering.
