Job Description

Our client is seeking a Manager of Network Engineering. This position is charged with coordinating the activities of a group of highly experienced and driven network engineers and actively supporting pre-sales and service management initiatives to attract and retain valued clients.

The right candidate is comfortable interfacing with customers via the ticketing systems and telephone, and dealing with a complex and evolving Juniper-based network and is excited to hit the ground running with active data center deployments.

JOB SCOPE:

Manage engineering staff performing network design, testing, and troubleshooting of network facilities as well as the daily operation of the department

Assist in planning and implementing network strategy and growth projects

Assist in the design and implementation of new products, services, and technologies

Act as a liaison between management and engineers for key or urgent issues

Oversee routine maintenance as needed

Coordinate documentation of processes, procedures, network architecture, and unique customer applications

Interface with vendors on complex issues, as well as new technologies and applications

Participate in the review of failures and provides feedback to prevent future occurrences.

Apply proactive customer support skills to prevent or mitigate client issues and/or concern

Ensure project deadlines are being met while keeping in constant communication with all departments involved throughout the process

Mentor direct reports and other team members in relevant technologies

Stay current with emerging technologies

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

15+ years of experience in network operations and/or engineering

Demonstrated leadership experience in an IT or service provider environment

Advanced knowledge in designing, testing, scaling, troubleshooting, and analyzing network facilities

Exceptional client service skills and experience in written and verbal delivery as well as in remote environments (via phone and/or video)

Extensive operation experience in JUNOS/IOS/*NIX

Deep knowledge of Juniper MX-series platforms and hardware architecture

Expert operational knowledge of interior and exterior routing protocols

Strong understanding of network design, planning, and operation

Senior-level industry certifications or relevant experience

Track record of industry participation

Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills

Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills

Strong relationship building skills
