Job Description

SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Payroll and HRMS Supervisor, performs a variety of professional payroll work including planning, organizing, and controlling all aspects of the MPAS payroll function.

This includes, but is not limited to, administrative duties involving the verification of changes input into the payroll system, internal controls and records, and the day-to-day payroll processing operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employee

Verify all employee status changes in the HRIS system

Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and time off inquires in person, via phone and email in a timely fashion (within 24 hours).

Provide administrative support to department wide or company-wide special projects and additional responsibilities as they present themselves whether annual (Benefits Open
Enrollment, Service Awards, etc.) or spontaneous.

Respond to agency and employee calls for written and verbal employment verification requests.

Sort and distribute bi-weekly paychecks and distribute to appropriate divisions.

Escalate employee issues to Payroll and HRMS Supervisor for resolution.

Remain knowledgeable, ensure compliance with and answer general inquires with regard to company policies, procedures and programs which govern employees, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook.

Other duties as assigned.

Responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate payment of employee paychecks.

Escalate employee issues to Payroll and HRMS Supervisor for resolution.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Proficient in EXCEL

Familiar with WORD

Knowledgeable in tax, garnishment and other government regulations as they apply to payroll.

Knowledge about taxes in multiple states

Experience with payroll and HRMS systems. Ultimate Software and Cognos preferred.

EDUCATION and/or CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience using an HRIS and/or payroll system is required.

At least 2+ years of work experience in an HR Department with payroll is required .

Ability to maintain confidentiality is required.

Ability to work independently and efficiently, while organizing and prioritizing work to meet deadlines is required.

Must be able to multi-task and handle frequent interruptions

Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) is required.
