Systems Administrator - SAN

6-month Contract, with potential to extend and/or convert

Saint Paul, MN

Storage Administrator will perform storage and backup administration in Windows / UNIX / Linux environments, filling storage requests, zoning SANs, performing storage migrations, setting up and maintaining replication partners, performing backups and recoveries, performing storage assessments, system design, performance analysis, capacity planning, and disaster recovery planning. The focus will be the support, maintenance, and administration of the entire enterprise storage and backup environment.

Qualifications:

Extensive experience supporting an enterprise storage environment

Enterprise storage including NAS and SAN systems

Working knowledge and application of backup concepts and practices including experience with backup rotation, retention, scheduling, and vaulting for offsite storage.

Including working knowledge of database backups, full and incremental backup technologies and storage de-duplication.

Excellent communication and customer service skills and availability to provide 24 x 7 on-call support as part of rotating team including nights, weekends, holidays

Responsibilities:

Participates as a member of a corporate-wide Storage team ensuring consistency in the application of management and administrative policies and procedures relative to storage and backup administration in a 24x7 enterprise model

Monitors and acts to ensure the delivery of user acceptable response times and the absence of business interruptions

Troubleshoot and resolve incidents with enterprise SAN, NAS, and backup systems quickly and completely

Perform day-to-day backup administration tasks, including but not limited to: monitoring of system health; performing backup and recovery operations; resolving underlying causes for missed and failed backups

Perform day-to-day storage administration tasks, including but not limited to: monitoring system health and performance; filling storage allocation/de-allocation requests; snapshot creation and cleanup; monitoring and resolving issues with replication; SAN zoning and masking

Perform or orchestrate data migrations between frames or between systems with other teams

Disaster recovery planning and testing as required

Provide 24x7 on-call support as part of rotating team coverage

Perform Incident/Change Management

Configure and manage backup tape library units and disk-based backup targets

Installing, upgrading, and patching of storage, SAN, NAS, and backup servers and clients

Manage daily backup status reports
