PostgreSQL DBA
Six-Month Contract
Boulder, CO
Are you a talented PostgreSQL DBA with experience transitioning from Microsoft to Linux Platforms? Do you enjoy Boulder, CO and fast-growing startup environments? This may be the position for you! Searching for a contractor to help a Boulder client with their transition from MySQL Server to PostgreSQL.
Must have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive environment, and excellent collaboration skills.
Job Functions:
Focus on PostgreSQL database design - building database functions, administration, tuning, troubleshooting, scaling, and maintenance.
Assist in the analysis and migration of DB scripts and stored procedures from MS SQL Server to PostgreSQL.
Collaborate with engineering team to optimize queries, stored procedures, and database scripts.
Help to define and implement data quality and maintenance plans for the database.
Take charge in developing and implementing best practices for high availability, disaster recovery (DR), and backups.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a PostgreSQL DBA role - preferably in the Information Security sector.
Excellent understanding of DB design principles & best practices.
Demonstrable experience with large DB Systems Design.
Extensive experience fine-tuning and optimizing performance for constrained systems.
Recent and thorough experience w/ PosgreSQL replication configuration & performance
tuning for high-availability systems and disaster recovery (DR) scenarios.
Higher than average SQL scripting skills, including the creation of PL/pgSQL functions.
Past experience proactively identifying and troubleshooting live DB systems issues.
Knowledge of DR principles & practices, including planning, testing and backup/restoring
procedures.
