Job Description

Desktop Engineer:

OVERVIEW

The Junior Desktop Engineer is responsible for assisting Desktop Engineers with monitoring level 3 support queue, application installations, configuration, testing, and documentation.

This position also provides day-to-day system administration of various enterprise applications.

This position reports to the Manager of Applications.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide technical coaching and mentoring to Help Desk members and assist colleagues in resolution of support issues

Create documentation as necessary

Troubleshoot, diagnose, test and identify failing/failed applications and integration components for firm desktop images

Monitor and troubleshoot problems associated with desktop changes

Administer all aspects of Unidesk, including the Infrastructure, Admin Console, software and hardware inventory, software distribution, monitoring and reporting

Assist with creation/maintenance of Group Policy Objects

Support 1500+ virtual desktops in View/Horizon environment

Various duties involving Windows Server and Active Directory, as necessary

Maintain inventory records of software and hardware

Perform other related duties and assignments, as requested

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

At least 4 years of progressive experience supporting enterprise applications

Experience working in a virtualized desktop environment

Strong communication skills, including presentation skills and ability to tailor communications for the intended audience

Ability to function at a high level in a very fast-paced environment where requirements
and project priorities may change quickly

Demonstrated ability to stay current with industry best practices, existing and emerging technology platforms, and trends related to enterprise applications

Ability to work long hours or outside regular office hours, as required

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS (PREFERRED)

Experience with VMware virtualization technologies including but not limited to vSphere and vCenter management suite

Experience with managing large enterprise VMware infrastructure with 1500+ virtual
machines in a highly available environment

Experience with Unidesk virtual desktop management suite

Experience with creating/maintaining images for Mac hardware

Experience managing applications on Mac/PC with AirWatch
