Job Summary

A real estate development and investment company that currently focuses on single-family residential and multi-family/mixed-use projects.

The Property Accountant is responsible for the accurate reporting and analysis of financial statements for the company's portfolio of development projects and income producing assets.

Responsibilities and Duties

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for a portfolio of development projects, income-producing assets, closings, and new asset acquisitions;

Reconcile all general ledger accounts through the preparation and completion of accurate and timely journal entries;

Consistently and accurately complete all bank reconciliations on a monthly basis;

Assist on all accounting, budgeting, reporting, collections, and disbursements matters;

Recommend and execute expense re-classifications, as appropriate;

Assist the Finance team with processing loan draws, recording draw receipts, and communicating draw status;

Support Property Manager to perform monthly variance analyses

Assist Property Manager with lease setup into the accounting system

Timely and accurately record payments, receipts, and closing entries

Assist with accounts payable and treasury management duties;

Assist with the annual budget process;

Coordinate with independent auditors and external tax preparers, as needed;

Recommend process improvement changes;

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

BS or BA in Accounting or Finance required;

Minimum 3+ years of real estate property/fund accounting experience;

Proficiency with Yardi Voyager/7S required;

Strong skills in MS Excel and Word required;

Good understanding of GAAP and general accounting processes;

Manage priorities and workflow appropriately;

Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail;

Maintain high standards of integrity;

Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills;

The ability to work independently, work well under deadlines, multi-task and maintain error free record keeping;

Team player with willingness to be flexible to ensure team objectives are met;

Problem solving attitude and customer service mentality with high sense of ownership and pride in your work.
