SharePoint Developer

Contract opportunity

The Sharepoint Developer will play a key role in the configuration, development, remediation and support of a critical initiative related to the upgrade and data migration of a global commercial software product.

You will be part of a cross-discipline team (including Engineering, Architecture, Product, Quality Assurance and Dev Ops) in the migration of Fortune 500 clients from a legacy Web CMS platform to Sharepoint 2016, including porting and upgrading code where necessary, server installation, proprietary third-party integrations, configuration, administration and load/performance profiling and tuning.



Responsibilities:

- Partner with team members and subject matter experts to perform impact analysis and define approach to upgrading configuration and CMS elements including but not limited to customized code, sites, pages, web parts, layouts, etc.

- Perform upgrade from Sharepoint 2010 to Sharepoint 2016 with the proven ability to prototype, triage, and remediate any gaps that may be exposed due to porting to the 2016 platform.

- Perform specific configurations to the upgraded platform with the ability to enable or disable certain features, as defined by the Product Manager.

- Support our DevOps team in the design and build of production and non-production Sharepoint 2016 environments.

- Support our quality assurance team in their multi-faceted testing approach including comparison and load/performance testing, adhering to acceptable performance benchmarks.



Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree

- 4+ years of relevant hands-on experience in Sharepoint (Sharepoint 2010 and Sharepoint 2016) development, integration and administration.

- 4+ years of experience with .NET/C#, ASP.NET, MVC and WCF.

- Experience with SharePoint's Services Application framework including implementation, configuration, search, managed metadata and user profile services.

- Applied knowledge of existing techniques and tools (e.g. Microsoft, Sharegate, Metalogix, etc.) related to upgrading from 2010 to 2016, including key understanding of deprecation, data model differences, moving structured and unstructured data, etc.

- Proficient in the design, development and remediation of custom components like Web Parts, Event Handlers, etc.

- Experience working with a common Sharepoint platform and integrated code base combined with heavy one-off client customizations.

- Ability to profile, diagnose and debug highly complex code, including performance tuning in the support of high volume, high availability requirements.

- Experience using source control management tools such as GIT and Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS).

- Experience working with collaboration and issue tracking tools such as Confluence and JIRA.

- Excellent organizational skills, multitasking ability and proven analytical, methodical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.

- Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to research, design, and write new documentation, as well as to maintain and improve existing material.

- Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven project environment.

- Strong work ethic is a must.

- Proactive: Must be willing to seek out information and solutions that are pertinent to your responsibilities and key to delivery.

- Team player attitude with a focus on the success of the team is a MUST.

- Must have SharePoint migration experience ideally from 2010 to 2016. The use of SharePoint in this role is that it is the basis of HR portals Content Management system for clients.



Preferred:

- Experience developing applications requiring internationalization and localization for global markets is preferred.
