SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to join a global professional services organization.

The Software Development Manager will manage an Agile team of internal software developers and project leaders and will be responsible for the end-to-end service delivery, focusing on managing the team and driving the strategy, budgets, and capabilities.

The Software Development Manager will own the global development team and be the focus on the development, builds, customization, automation and implementation of a portfolio of applications crucial for the internal IT team.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling the portfolio as well as interfacing with the internal stakeholders and Product owners.

Excellent communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

Leads projects to ensure quality and on-time delivery, making technical recommendations to the product's functional owner when appropriate, and taking stakeholder input to come up with creative solutions with very high commercial quality results

Product ownership of IT Systems capabilities

Manage and track product backlog by working with Product Owner in prioritizing customer feedback, bug fixes and the feature roadmap to rapidly iterate the product

Oversee all aspects of project execution, holding scrum masters and project managers accountable

Instructs and directs the software development team through all phases of the SDLC, formulating and defining system scope, integration requirements, and objectives based on user defined needs

Adopt a lean and agile approach to product development and delivery

Coordinate efforts with engineering team members and create the detailed sprint and testing plans

Manages stakeholder's expectations while building credibility with senior stakeholders through a strong business sense

Deploys, tests, and works with the software development and QA team to enhance products, collaborating with vendors when appropriate

Collaborates with the Product Manager and Business Owner and directs project team members (internal or external) in writing prioritized technical requirements documentation, including scope definition and statement of work

In collaboration with designers, software architects, and security specialists, creates clear and complete information and software architecture, design, and specification documentation

Directs vendors and QA specialists in writing test and quality control plans

Work with experience design and oversee the formation of a compelling user experience and prototypes for testing purposes

Build and manage multi-discipline teams to develop, build and test new products, and services

Design operational processes, service level agreements and interface requirements for product

Contribute to the planning and scoping of innovation, development and design projects

Leads quality control tests and keeps logs of problems, issues, changes, and future enhancements during the different phases of the development cycle

Supports the Product Manager, Business Owner and other stakeholders on developing and implementing product launch plans to rollout product to technical and non-technical service delivery team

Provides first class training, assistance, and support to service delivery team

Collaborates with vendors and other available resources when required - identifies, researches, and resolves system technical and/or non-technical problems, bugs, performance and other issues reported by tools' users, stakeholders, clients, or vendors

Documents, tracks, and monitors bugs, problems, and issues to ensure timely resolution

Influence and drive service adoption for growing 500+ IT user base

Educate and inform business partners on software development architecture, capabilities, best practices and future enhancements

Contribute to the overall product and platform roadmaps through strong business partnership and deep understanding of business challenges and business opportunities

Assist in analyzing business requirements, source systems, understand underlying data sources required to support application development

Facilitate project initiation phases by defining project charter, outlining project scope and working with vendor partners to estimate effort and timelines

Manage team of developers and project leaders: provide structure and leadership to manage team priorities, streamline work efforts, manage business expectations and communicate statuses to leadership

Work closely with business owners to define and document governance requirements, issue escalation procedures, new user access, and outage communication templates.

Implement and manage robust 24x7 operations support processes and ensure data accuracy, triage, and business communications

Requirements

Advanced or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field 10+ years of software development experience in system design and development using various tools and technologies

4+ years in a Development Manager role

Enterprise level experience is highly desired

Experience managing global teams is desired

Project management and its processes (Agile / Scrum)

Product management processes

Functional analysis process

Different software development models and life cycle

Product architecture

Web development (ASP, .NET / MS Visual Studio, HTML5, JavaScript, XML)

Extensive experience in any combination of the following: ITIL, IT Service Management, Web Solutions and development, ServiceNow, .NET development and technologies

Must be able to be successful in a fast-paced, intellectually intense, service-oriented environment

Ability to understand and manage complex reporting relationships and incorporate multiple cultures.

Must be flexible in work time to coordinate appropriately with teams and vendors in different time zones.

Ability to travel when needed
