Job Description

Claims/Data Analyst

To serve as the System Administrator for Passport, the e*billing and matter management

system used by the Claims Department, and to oversee administrative responsibility for the

financial, billing, data quality, and reporting areas of the Claims Department. This position

includes working with the Passport vendor; serving as a data steward for the Claims Department;

overseeing claims processing; preparing claim analyses and reports; and acting as the primary

liaison with accountants, actuaries, and data analytics personnel, as well as financial and

other personnel at member firms.

B. Primary Responsibilities:

-Develop, implement, and maintain the claims system (Passport) and work with

the Information Technology department, Wolters Kluwer, and any other outside

vendors in the ongoing operation and enhancement of the claims system.

-Maintain the accuracy and integrity of claims data throughout the organization,

whether through reports or data integration.

-Verify the accuracy of all claims accounting calculations within Passport,

including calculation of reserves, payments, and reimbursements.

-Manage the claims reimbursement process, including verifying the accuracy and

completeness of records. Liaison with, and respond to, queries from member

firms regarding reimbursement.

-Supervise the e*billing and defense counsel onboarding process.

-Serve as the data steward for the Claims Department, including gathering and

analyzing claims and other data as required by

management and collaborating with the Data Insights & Analytics group.

Responsibilities include defining data and dashboard requirements for the claims

department; partnering with to drive data quality and data governance; and

performing quality assurance for delivery.

-Train claims personnel on operational software and reporting systems, including

Passport, Excel and Power BI.

-Together with the DIA, report on claims data, including claims losses, frequency,

and severity, and prepare responses to ad hoc data queries regarding claims data.

-Serve as liaison to IT department, communicating business needs and prioritizing

requests.

-Serve as a liaison between the Claims Department and other personnel, as

well as with external auditors and counsel on needed reports, data requests, or

other information.

-Manage department Intranet site, including working with the Knowledge Manager

to develop a knowledge management database and communication system.

-Perform other duties as assigned.

C. Minimum Educational / Experiential Qualifications:

-College degree or equivalent experience.

-An ability to understand and work within professional indemnity insurance

programs. Experience with legal industry and operations systems desired.

-Experience with database systems, including understanding table and query

relationships. Working knowledge of Passport or similar e*billing and matter

management systems preferred.

-Intermediate to Expert level experience with Excel, including working with

advanced formulas and PivotTables.

-Experience with dashboards and dashboard software, including Tableau or

PowerBI preferred.

D. Positions Supervised:

This position may assist with the day-to-day supervision of internal billing personnel.
