Job Description

Our client is on a mission to revolutionize the outdated mortgage industry by letting people shop, compare, and close any mortgage from any lender, completely online.
Purchasing a home is the largest, most important financial transaction of a person's life.

Because we believe getting a mortgage should be just as simple, modern, and transparent as buying anything else online, we're building the first-ever, fully digital marketplace to make this possible - what Kayak did for the travel industry, we aim to do for mortgages.

Founded by a diverse team of mortgage industry vets and software engineers, our client is a Techstars Brokerage Firm NYC '16 company backed by an amazing group of investors and advisors who share our vision to empower consumers and democratize the mortgage industry.

About This Role

Good product and user experience isn't an afterthought here- it's core to our mission and key to our competitive advantage.

Mortgages are complicated, but we believe that a great product and technology can make them easier.

As our first full-time project manager, you'll be responsible for managing all aspects of product development—from research and wireframes to execution, deployment, and post-release analysis.

It's a small team and you'll be the only product manager (at least for a while), so you should feel comfortable owning it all!

Responsibilities

Develop and execute on the product roadmap. That includes prioritizing features, writing specs, and measuring the impact of product initiatives on business goals.

Ensure the product strategy is aligned with the long-term vision of the company.

Conduct market research and user testing to help inform product decisions and build a coherent and intuitive user experience.

Define and analyze data (KPIs) to help determine success of product built. Share results with the team and use conclusions to drive the product further. Encourage and thrive in a
data driven environment.

Develop end-to-end storyboards or rough wireframes for product features. Work with designers to transform sketches into beautiful product.

Ensure product is thoroughly tested and thoroughly proofread before release.

Work with engineering and business teams to estimate work efforts, define milestones, and get stuff done!

Regularly communicate project updates, roadblocks, and milestones.

Manage the overall product development process.

Who We're Looking For

3+ years of consumer-facing product management experience. You should be comfortable taking an idea from its infancy all the way through to launch and tracking performance..
Experience in fintech is a plus.
A "consumer-first” attitude—everything you build and everything you work towards is about making a better experience for our consumer. Empathy is key!

An ability to grasp complex technical challenges and nuanced product workflows and translate them into simple, intuitive user experiences.

Experience working with analytics platforms like Google Analytics, Mixpanel, and Kissmetrics and a desire to dig into data to find product insights and opportunities of

A willingness to collaborate with engineering, marketing, and operations teams to shape the product and user experience.

An ability to know when and how to make compromises in order to ship faster and continuously iterate.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Highly organized and capable of leading a team of engineers through the entire product cycle.

Good at projecting time estimates and hitting deadlines (as well as motivating others to hit deadlines!).
