Job Description
Senior Cloud Database Engineer
We are seeking a motivated and experienced AWS Cloud Engineer with database experience to join our client’s Cloud Database team.
In this role you will support the database migration effort to the Cloud.
You will be a key member of a small team in migrating legacy databases and data to the Cloud.
As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for:
” Design, develop and document processes to migrate the on-premise relational databases (Oracle and SQL Server) and data to the Cloud
” Migrate the databases and data to the Cloud
” Design, develop, and document processes, procedures, and tools - for diagnosing and fixing known bugs and problems; for improving efficiency; and for automating common tasks.
” Perform database capacity and usage planning
” Collaborate with Infrastructure and Applications teams on efforts to improve database security, performance and availability
” Ensure all migration related incidents are recorded timely, accurately and prioritized
” Document, maintain and implement database standards and practices
” Assist with evaluating cloud databases, support documentation, and provide input into standard operating procedures
” Resolve incidents, issues, and problems, alone and through collaboration with other team members
” Configure database continuous integration and delivery pipelines
” Automate database deployments and version control
Qualifications:
Four or more years of relevant experience
” Engineering, administering and managing multiple relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server)
” Coding and development experience using SQL and PL/SQL languages
” Extensive experience with AWS services (VPC, ELB, EC2, S3, RDS, DMS and CloudFormation templates etc.) required; Microservice related skills such as API gateway, AWS Lambda, and Docker are a plus
” Database knowledge: Oracle and SQL Server required; Aurora, MySQL and DynamoDB are a plus
” Ability to work independently and in an Agile team environment
