Job Description
The Property Accountant is responsible for overseeing the General Ledger/financial reporting for an assigned portfolio of properties.
This role routinely coordinates with property personnel, Regional Managers, and other accounting team members.
This accountant is responsible for the accuracy of the financial statements of each property and for reconciling all related accounts.
In addition, the Accountant supports on-site staff as it relates to accounting tenant-ledgers and serves as the first contact for issues related to tenant activity in accounting system.
Primary Responsibilities:
Coordination with site personnel & other accounting team members to ensure accurate tenant ledger
Process misc. cash receipts
Enter, review Accounts payable and assist check-run process
Reconciliation of all related bank accounts, selected Balance Sheet accounts & Income
Statement accounts
Review Rent roll and Gross Potential Rent and record adjustment
Assist Month-end closing process and post recurring Journal Entries
Monthly review and maintenance of the General Ledger for assigned portfolio
Prepare and assist Monthly, Quarterly and annual reporting to investors/tax agencies
Understand and comply with GAAP and internal policies and procedures
Desired Skills and Experience
Accounting Bachelor’s Degree preferred
3+ Years of property accounting experience
In depth knowledge of property management accounting software, Yardi preferred
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Deadline-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
