Director of Human Resources

ICS is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Director of Human Resources to join the Chicago office of a prestigious Law Firm.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of Human Resources services throughout the Firm, including employee relations, benefits, performance evaluations, compensation and compliance.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to contribute to the Firm in a highly visible role, working directly with the Director of Talent Development, Diversity and Human Resources, and reporting to the Chief Operating Partner.

The responsibilities of the Director of Human Resources will include:

· Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures; updates and maintains HR handbooks and advises Firm leadership on a variety of staff HR-related issues.

· Uses knowledge of HRIS databases to track employee information, design reports as needed and continuously review and improve database configuration to best fit the needs of the Human Resources department and the Firm.

· Oversees benefits and group insurance plans; manages open enrollment planning and execution and vendor relationships. Reviews and researches new benefits programs.

· Prepares reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as the IRS, DOL, OSHA and other regulatory agencies. Tracks state and federal laws for all offices to ensure compliance.

· Oversees unemployment management, reviews new hire offer letters, and conducts all staff and lawyer policy manual orientation and exit interviews.

· Works closely with Directors and Managers in all offices to respond to employee questions and resolve staff employee relations issues. Conducts staff employee relations counseling and researches and develops documents for investigations and internal processes.

· Reviews performance evaluations for any Human Resources or performance issues; drafts necessary performance improvement plans.

· Supervises maintenance of Human Resources records, including statistical reports, personnel files and benefit files. Maintains visa documents.

· Attends SHRM and Benefits Roundtable meetings to stay current with market trends.

· Coordinates various Firmwide programs, including affirmative action programs, smoking cessation programs, and wellness programs.

· Develops and manages duties and goal setting for the Benefits Coordinator, Human Resources Coordinator and Human Resources Assistant.

· Prepares Human Resources budget and expenditures list.

· Oversees background check process for new hires, conducts additional research as needed.

· Drafts alternative work schedule and flex time agreements, manages password resets and time clock adjustments and manages workers compensation processes and procedures.

· Reviews and approves various documents, including weekly bulletins, insurance bills, invoices, and benefits communications and brochures.

· Serves as a backup to Recruiting as needed.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have an undergraduate degree in Human Resources, business, or related field. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification required, SPHR preferred. The ideal candidate will have at least seven (7) years of prior Human Resources supervisory experience in a professional environment; preference given to those with prior law firm experience.

· Knowledge of Human Resources principles with a strong background in employee relations and benefits administration.

· Dependability, adaptability, problem-solving; strong analytical skills, ability to draw conclusions from data, assess implications and make recommendations.

· Strong client service attitude and communication skills are required.

· Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong organizational and time management skills.

· Excellent written, verbal, listening and interpersonal skills.

· Attention to detail is essential.
