Windows Server Administrator

Job Summary

Responsible for the overall performance and availability of the Windows Server environment including backups and storage. Analyzes the environment and recommends upgrades/changes; assesses organization's current and future needs.

Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

DUTIES
:

Creates documentation relating to Windows Servers support and best practices as required

Maintain and support Backups and Storage Systems. Ideally someone with Pure and/or Netapp
Storage experience and Rubrik backup systems.

Evaluates and recommends Active Directory, Exchange, IIS, Lync, and other Microsoft
Technology related hardware and software

Tests and integrates hardware and software relating to upgrades or migrations

Provides documentation for all phases as required by assigned projects

Participates in various support reviews (requests, change order) and brings follow-up action items to closure in a timely manner

Provides immediate support for problems escalated from team members and escalates further as needed.

Interacts with Operations management and Senior personnel to resolve server – client or laptop connectivity issues relating to the environment

Develops and maintains administrative scripts in PowerShell as necessary

Maintains a working knowledge of their field and advises senior management of current trends relating to the environment or available products

Defines and enforces best practices and implementations

Complete all tasks within assigned schedule and budget while maintaining a high level of quality

Provide periodic and accurate feedback on status of assignments

Identify and communicate problems that affect progress to the team

Resolve, or seek resolution to problems, from peers, immediate manager, or other Operations personnel

Define standards and procedures identified for work assignments

Review and create all information and documents relevant to assignments in detail

Maintain a positive work attitude, a high level of communication and cordial relations that foster team work

Resolves requests or change orders in timely fashion

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION LEVEL/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree in discipline appropriate to assignment or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Related certifications will be helpful.

The candidate must have 5+ years of experience supporting an enterprise Windows environment, at least 2 years of which is in a supervisory role.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Advanced knowledge of Windows Server OS, Active Directory (Group Policy) and Hyper-V (or non clustered VM environments

Advanced knowledge of the Messaging infrastructure, Exchange migrations, Windows Servers, and related technologies

Experience with Backups - ideally Rubrik

Experience with Storage

Experience with Microsoft Visio

Experience with Lync and Office365

Expert troubleshooting skills, using a variety of troubleshooting tools

Advanced knowledge of PowerShell scripting

Working knowledge of ITIL v3 Framework required, certification is preferred.

Ability to learn new technologies quickly
