Job Description: Production Support Engineer

A Production Support Engineer is dedicated to ensuring that the suite of global applications and infrastructure are available and supported in line with defined service level agreements.

The role will include involvednment in frontline support, incident management and reporting, root cause analysis, productivity efficiencies & improvements and providing support during pre-production change management cycles.

They will also identify and drive resolution of chronic problems and toil uncovered during their production support activities

Roles and Responsibilities:

Provide daily support of the production environment and take ownership in managing and resolving issues and problems encountered, in a timely manner to ensure minimum disruption to internal and external clients

Interact with various teams to ensure a stable production environment, including but not limited to client facing support, application developers, business analysts, infrastructure, build & deployment and quality assurance

Act as a custodian of the production environment and adhere to and promote strict project lifecycle methodologies white ensuring all relevant change management procedures are being followed.

Develop strong working relationships with business and aligned application and infrastructure support teams to asssits in support issue prioritization.

Perform timely escalation of critical production incidents and proactively identify patterns of recurring incidents to improve service stability.

Develop and utilize core support tools and processes to perform work whilst improving day to day practices for support team members with the goal of delivering service improvements to the business.

Drive efficiency and automation in order to eliminate chronic issues and reduce toil

Maintain documentation on issue corrective action in-line with best practice to ensure knowledge accessibility and continuous learning amongst the team.

Key Skills/Experience

Scripting experience with Unix/SQL

Monitoring skills using Splunk, Wily, Geneos

Database/Middleware development experienc

Excellent working knowledge of production support role

Excellent problem solving skills

Advanced analytical skills

Aptitude for learning and complex problem soliving

Desire to work in a fast-paced environment

Monitoring/Alerting and Batch/Job scheduling

Excellent working knowledge of Linux/Unix

Excellent database knowledge & experience – Sybase/Oracle/SQL

Ability to work under pressure and deliver on time

Ability to fully document solutions

Incident management experience

Proactive, adaptive, independent, and self-managing with proven capability to lead a project initiative

Effectively adapt to necessary changes in work requirements, roles, and responsibilities

Ability to understand, adhere to and suggest improvements to internal IT control policy and industry best-practice

You will be supporting global systems working closely with team members in various locations, so excellent communication skills are a must

Excellent interpersonal skills

Customer Service oriented – build positive working relationships with clients at all times, providing clear information while managing their expectations

Desirable:

Financial industry knowledge

Capacity management experience

Familiarity with risk and controls and its role in applications support

Hands on development experience

Project management

Experience supporting applications running on Windows Servers

MQ/UM experience
