SYSTEMS ENGINEER/DEVOPS ENGINEER

Ashburn, VA

12+ month contract

We are hiring a Senior Systems/DevOps Engineer for a global client of ours, with offices in Ashburn, VA!

What You’ll Do:

Coordinate with development and operations to ensure that requirements from development are understood and implemented as expected

Coordinate with IT Vendors and ensures they are meeting expectations

Implement services on a Cloud Platform and integrates them with back office processes

Manage issues in a ticket tracking system and assign priority

Gather requirements to define a solution to be built and operated

Provisions operates and maintains systems

Skills/Experience You’ll Need:

AWS Architect / SysOps certification and/or experience with the following:

Providing AWS operations and deployment experience with Amazon Web Services EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM, Route53, S3, and other AWS Services

Creating automated deployment and testing environments.

Deploying, managing, and operating scalable / highly available / fault tolerant systems on AWS

Migrating existing on-premise applications and services to AWS

Selecting the appropriate AWS service based on compute; data; or security requirements

Identifying appropriate use of AWS operational best practices

One or more years of hands-on experience operating AWS-based applications

Expert level Linux/Unix command line and comfortable working with Windows

Knowledgeable and able to use Internet Technologies such as HTTP, DNS, DHCP, TCP, IP etc.

Experience with installing and configuring Apache and Tomcat

Ability to thrive in a constantly changing technical environment with shifting priorities

Experience with supporting mission critical software

Skill and drive to own and solve complex issues with minimal oversight

Ability and desire to learn and apply new knowledge and engineering concepts as it relates to the business
