Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is looking for an Oracle Developer in Santa Monica, CA.

The candidate must be willing to take on-call rotation and occasional weekend work.

Duties and Responsibilities

Design, code, test and maintain database objects like tables, views, packages, functions, procedures, indexes, sequences and triggers in Oracle.

Design and develop custom ETL or ELT workflows using scheduling automation tools like Tidal.

Strong knowledge and experience of SQL and PL/SQL programming.

Strong understanding of Oracle Database fundamentals and features.

Performance tuning of SQL, analyzing the AWR and advanced SQL, PL/SQL writing skills.

Integrate data products with Java and .Net applications

Utilize advanced Oracle features and techniques where appropriate to develop robust, reliable and high-performance solutions

Translate requirements into technical specifications including the physical and logical data modelling, designing and data flow diagrams.

Create reliable, performant, scalable architecture and effectively communicate with stake holders and teammates.

Strong foundation on analyzing the data and business scenarios with attention to detail.

Create operations and technical documentation for developed systems and applications

Maintain awareness of new Oracle features and techniques

Participate in and support QA and user-acceptance test procedures and environments

Configuring monitoring and proactively reviewing statistics for errors, capacity and performance issues.

Effectively participate in investigation and resolution of production issues.

Production support requires working on shifts on nights and weekends as dictated by the business requirements.

Collaborate with diverse teams to deliver on-time.

Knowledge and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar major

7+ years of experience developing database applications in PL/SQL using Stored procedures, Packages, Functions and Complex SQL

5+ years of experience of developing applications on Oracle 11g and 12c databases on a
Linux or Unix-based platform. Solid knowledge of Linux / Unix operating systems and shell programming is required. Java, Perl, Python, Rexx programming is a plus.

Sound understanding of development life cycle and version control.

Experience developing on other RDMS like Microsoft SQL Server is a plus.

Understanding of SDLC process and tools, agile project management concepts and version control.

Experience with TIDAL (Cisco) enterprise scheduler is preferred.

Excellent problem solving, issue identification, analytical and technical documentation skills.

Extensive SQL Query tuning using different tools. Clear understanding of query plan.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The person must have the ability to work in a fast-paced business environment.
