Job Description

SQL DBA

We are working with a global logistics organization in the far north burbs of Chicago.
They are currently doing a huge upgrade, consolidation and integration of a new ERP and WMS system so they are looking for a SQL DBA to help administer and support the database and the data integration into the new systems.

The Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for the performance, integrity and security of the database.

The DBA will be responsible for supporting the development teams and will be involved in the planning and development of the databases.

The DBA will create stored procedures, SSIS packages, views, tables, and other database objects, and perform other tasks associated with maintaining and enhancing application performance.

The database administrator will monitor database usage and report on database performance, security, and system availability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans

Manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of the databases

Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly

Carry out capacity planning

Control access permissions and privileges

Work closely with SQL, Web and Reporting developers, and IT Managers

Establish or update standards as required

Monitoring all aspects of the database environment

Create and maintain database related documentation

Determine changes in physical databases to support development projects

Design and development of data warehouse

Troubleshoot, correct, and test defects in stored procedures and SSIS packages

Develop complex SQL queries and SSIS packages to support projects

Production implementation of SQL objects related to Change Management Requests

Required Skills

A Bachelor's degree in technology or related studies or equivalent related work experience

A solid foundation in information systems, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design

3+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server

Experience in database administration to include configuration, managing SQL Backups, data restoration, and security/user login best practices

Performance Tuning of databases, stored procedures, views, etc.

Experience in database development to include logical data modeling and command of T-SQL

Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills

Experience developing integrations using SSIS

Required Experience

Willing to identify, own, and solve problems independently and as part of a team

Attention to detail

Ability to operate effectively under pressure

Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws

Development experience using C# is a plus

Excellent written and oral communication skills required.

Works well in collaborative team environment.

Self-Starter with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
