SQL SERVER DBA

Downtown Dallas

Base + Bonus

We are hiring a SQL Database Administrator to join our Client's growing team! The Senior SQL DBA will handle the daily administration of potentially hundreds of SQL Server instances using both commercial and zero cost custom built maintenance solutions.

The SQL DBA will be in a "hands-on" role requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills!

What You'll Do:

Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.

Provide basic administration for Oracle Databases, including security, backup (RMAN) and data protection.

Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.

Ensures that storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.

Liaise with application and business clients to gather requirements, design and deploy standard systems.

Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations.

Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.

Provide first line support for MySQL, SAP MaxDB and other data sources used by business applications.

Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.

Assist developers with complex TSQL scripting, query tuning and schema refinement when required.

Coordinate with vendor support administrators and DBAs to support company applications and ensure company standards are enforced.

Produce ad-hoc reports and queries on demand as well as basic structured reports from heterogeneous data sources.

Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.

Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.

Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.

Skills/Experience You'll Need:

Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in computer science or relevant experience of 10 years or more.

5+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience required for versions 2000 onward.

Must include a minimum of 1.5 years with MS SQL Server 2016.

3 years with Oracle DB.

1+ year experience with SQLCLR development.

SAP Basis experience a plus.

Experience with performance tuning and optimization using native monitoring and
troubleshooting tools.

Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.

Knowledge of All High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server and its associated versions from 2000 onward.

Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory.

Excellent written and verbal communication ability.

Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.

Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams.

Preferred Experience:

1+ year experience with SQL service broker applications and development, knowledge of multi-casting with service broker a plus.

1+ year experience with windows PowerShell, knowledge of multi-threading with run spaces a plus.

1+ year with PowerBI, Tableau or SAP BOBJ a plus.

Experience with Azure SQL or Amazon Redshift

Experience working with Visual Studio SQL Server database projects, Visual Studio 2015 and above

MCTS, MCITP, MCSA, MCSE and/or MVP certifications

Oracle Database Administrator Certifications
