Senior SQL Server Database Administrator

Position Summary

As a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator, you will combine your passion for DBMS and expertise in AWS to deliver continuous value to customers.

In this role, you will help define, design, deploy and support company databases.

You will work collaboratively with engineering teams to provide standalone and clustering solutions based on MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL and AWS RDS databases.

Key Job Responsibilities

Consul on database program design and perform Transact-SQL, PL/SQL code review created by application owners.

Assume ownership of databases related problems; pursue short and long term problem resolution, drive root cause analysis (RCA) and risk management processes.

Reviewing and tuning databases for optimal system performance including modifying parameters to improve throughput and effectively utilize system resources.

Develop and drive incident management processes, playbooks and stakeholder communication mechanisms.

May be scheduled for after-hours support and may be required to perform production releases or maintenance operations during non-peak hours.

Work closely with all operational groups to insure SOX compliance for corporate adopted systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Extensive experience in writing and troubleshooting Transact-SQL code and design ( store procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints).

Familiar with other database and data solutions such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL and MySQL are
desirable.

Advanced knowledge of SQL Server components (Profiler, SSMS, SSCM, DMV’s, system stored procedures, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS).

Must be able to setup and support Log Shipping, Replication, Mirroring and Table Partitioning.

Ability to automate routine processes with .Net or Powershell.

Well versed in setup and support of SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups and clustering.

Strong understanding of monitoring implementations and administration.

Past experience in Incident Management and good understanding of SOX and PCI compliance.

Self-motivated and self-accountable for delivery and adherence to standards and delivery timelines.

Experience in using RDBMS IDE tools such as: SQL Developer, TOAD and Ervin.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with working on Cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services.

Experience supporting complex database server environment strongly preferred.

Experience with NoSQL databases, MongoDB, and Cassandra.

Experience with Oracle RAC/MS SQL/MySQL Clustering.

Broad experience with SQL Server In-Memory OLTP.

Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Solarwinds DPA, Datadog or SQL Sentry.
