Job Description

We are seeking an image data/computer vision scientist to join our mature, multidisciplinary team of data scientists, data physicists and software engineering experts to support the visualization of data derived from unconventional exploration and production processes.

A strong understanding of unconventional petroleum systems characterization is highly desirable, but not required.

Education/Skills

Advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.) in computer science, computational science, GIS, math or a related field from an accredited college or university in an associated technical discipline

Knowledge of statistical modeling and machine learning techniques

Ability to work with complex data sets and analyze the relationships between and among those data sets

Contemporary knowledge of machine learning algorithms (i.e. convolutional neural networks, random forest classifiers) and computer vision algorithms (i.e. 3D histogram matching, k-means clustering and image fingerprinting) to do image classification, object detection, and semantic segmentation and potentially enable automated feature recognition

Strong knowledge of applied computer vision and machine learning techniques on modalities such as CT, X-Ray, etc. and on unstructured data sources

Experience with at least one deep learning framework (keras, tensorflow, pytorch, caffe, etc.) would be very helpful

Programming skills (Java/J2EE, C++, Python) and experience with software systems architecture, web services, web applications, and current software development tools, technologies and frameworks, such as Hadoop, Spark, MongoDB, Git, and Jenkins

Front-end / GUI experience with AngularJS, CSS, HTML and JavaScript

Knowledge of image processing and GIS applications (i.e. Cesium, ArcGIS, ArcIMS, ENVI/IDL, ERDAS Imagine, Generic Mapping Tools, etc.) and database software, imagery interpretation/analysis would be highly relevant

Experience

Minimum of 5-7 years of image/computer vision data science related work, with at least 3 years in an industry research and development type role

Demonstrated experience in bringing complex and innovative data science products from ideation to production, including participation in customer meetings and presentations

Demonstrated ability to use scientific understanding of the physical world to constrain a problem space and arrive at optimal solutions quickly

Expertise in geomodelling grids and geo-statistics methods would be very helpful

Experience with rock physics, geo-mechanics, well log interpretation and geologic facies classification also would be very helpful
