SYSTEMS MANAGER

An established and growing national services firm is actively seeking an experienced Systems Manager to manage and transform the systems administration team.

The Systems Manager will be responsible for oversight of the design, implementation and maintenance of servers and applications for our national IT infrastructure.

This includes strong hands on management and involvement in planning, deploying, maintaining and troubleshooting Windows systems, applications and Cloud and virtual technologies in support of business processes.

This will be a highly visible role as you will be working with Enterprise Support, Network Services, Application Development, Product Management and Field Operations teams.

The ideal candidate will be a strong Manager who is passionate about technology and a strong communicator.

Responsibilities:

Overseeing the support of 750 physical, virtual and cloud-based Windows servers

Managing staff performance and activities within the System Administration team

Identifying and driving system and process improvement initiatives

Acting as a technical escalation point for troubleshooting complex issues

Ensuring operational activities (backup, patching, etc.) are occurring at regular intervals

Enhancing monitoring capabilities for systems and applications

Providing technical insight for the management, operations, and support of Cloud solutions

Defining and measuring team goals and objectives to ensure alignment with strategic direction

Defining and maintaining Disaster Recovery plan relative to Windows systems

Working with other IT teams to enhance technology, processes and documentation as necessary

Conducting employee performance evaluations

Promoting technical and career growth of team members

Performing new hire training, skill development and ongoing coaching for each team member

Required Skills and Abilities:

5+ years of experience in a leadership position required

3+ years of experience managing a team in a technical setting required

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required

10+ overall years of related technical experience required

5+ years of experience with virtualization solutions, including VMWare

Solid understanding of Active Directory and DNS

2+ years of experience working with Microsoft Office 365

2+ years of experience in deploying and supporting Cloud technologies, specifically AWS

Experience with technology solution design

Solid understanding and experience with automating processes within IT

Strong knowledge of network communications

Ability to initiate, manage and complete projects with minimal direction and guidance

Ability to build relationships and partner with the business

Solid understanding of (and experience with) ITSM processes

Ability to manage multiple high priority issues and initiatives in a fast paced technical environment

Superb analytical and problem solving skills

Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities

Commitment to process improvement and professional growth
