SQL Application DBA

Job Responsibilites:

The App-DBA will be responsible for reviewing stored procedures, managing the database performance and ensure data entity and schema design follows best practices and standards.

ADBA will respond to database related alerts and escalations and work to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems.

The basics – writing and reviewing stored procedures; reviewing and monitoring database performance.

Helping educate developers on the finer points of database development.

Work with development teams to design new areas of the application and refactor old.

Respond to database related alerts and escalations and work to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems.

Work with our internal security organization to ensure database environments comply with data handling requirements.

Implement and maintain the database design

Create database objects (tables, indexes, etc.)

Write database stored procedures, functions and triggers

SQL tuning. Tune database queries.

Assist developers with database activities

Monitor application related jobs and data replication activities

Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards

Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity

Monitor database performance, implement changes, Perform database tuning to maximize application performance, reliability and scalability

Monitor Database jobs, storage.

Design and architect database schemas from user and system requirements

Qualifications:

Years of hands on experience building large RDBMS Systems.

Deep theoretical database knowledge

Exceptional practical SQL server knowledge

Expert level skills in SQL Development – ability to write and troubleshoot Transact SQL
Code and design (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints).

Expert knowledge in Performance Tuning and optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

Expert knowledge of indexes, index management and statistics.

Knowledge of the Microsoft development platform.

Experience leading and working with global teams and organizations.

Strong experience in Database Administration in recent SQL Server versions like 2008s, 2012s, 2014 etc.

Strong experience in complex scale out and DR scenarios including transactional replication, database mirroring, SAN Replication, and Always On setups.

Knowledge of troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, performance issues, connectivity issues, and security issues.

Uncanny ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related I/O, memory, disk space,
CPU, and other resource issues.

Know what the query optimizer will do before it does.

Knowledge of SQL Server tools (Profiler, SSMS, SSCM, DM views, system stored procedures).

Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
