Requirements

BA or BS degree (preferred in Computer Engineering or other IT area) or related technical experience with network background.

Minimum 5+ years of network engineering experience in a switched LAN/WAN environment with enterprise scale network and security devices, running 500+ nodes.

This experience should include most of the following:

Installing, troubleshooting, and operating network and security devices

Working experience in both Cisco and Juniper platforms

Switches, firewalls, security gateways (routing understanding)

Established expertise in common routing protocols BGP and OSPF

Standard networking and security protocols

Synchronous and asynchronous communications

Telecommunications equipment, modems, CSU/DSUs

Windows and UNIX operating systems

Wireless technologies and wireless management platforms

Network management tools used to

Centrally manage network components

Generate alerts and trend reporting

Highly motivated and a self-starter; able to quickly pick up new tools, applications, techniques, and networking and security concepts.

Must be able to work on several projects simultaneously, meet scheduled project milestones and deadlines and produce project plans, status reports and system documentation to support system operations, maintenance and troubleshooting.

Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing and system drawings.

Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.

Must be able to work during off-production hours to configure and maintain the network infrastructure when necessary.
