DESKTOP VIRTUALIZATION ENGINEER

Downtown Dallas, TX

6+ month contract

ICS has partnered with a top financial services Client to hire a Systems Engineer focused around Desktop Virtualization! This is a 6+ month contract with the possibility of extension and/or conversion.

Desktop Virtualization Engineer will be responsible for the end to end design and engineering lifecycle of virtual computing products and services running on Windows desktop OS.

The role is responsible for ensuring that end user solutions are designed and built to meet and exceed approved business use cases.

The position will also provide technical subject matter expertise to other engineering teams, application delivery and operational support groups.

What You'll Do:

Translate technical and business requirements into Enterprise level designs, validate in a test lab environment, publish findings and provide knowledge transfer internally.

Provide technical leadership and serve as the technical point of contact for assigned
projects.

Participate in design sessions, assessment, analysis and troubleshooting.

Assist in design of practical and cost effective solutions and services that meet customer requirements.

Support operational teams with technical subject matter expertise.

Have the ability to analyses and solve business or technical problems.

Have the ability to effectively communicate to internal clients through all available mediums (verbal, listening, writing and presenting).

Have the ability to produce first rate technical documentation.

Willingness to stay on the leading edge of technology by learning new technologies.

Assist with knowledge transfer to internal engineering and operational peers.

Research new technologies, services and products and work with appropriate engineering teams to evaluate their applicability.

Provides advanced technical support and guidance for troubleshooting incidents.

Coordinates with vendors and National IT End User Services Operations team to resolve Tier 3 issues.

Coordinates and manages technical pilot and production projects including scheduling, resource identification, and making recommendations based on testing results.

Documents solutions to complex technical problems.

Recommends procedures, controls and business continuity plans to mitigate risks and
prevent recurring issues.

Develops and documents complex scripts to be utilized for automation of the virtual desktop infrastructure.

Develop automation to replace/simplify daily operational tasks

Skills/Experience You'll Need:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and/or MIS is preferred

Experience of creating Enterprise level architectures that are focused on core technologies and include cloud-based service offerings.

Experience of Windows desktop technologies, including the ability to perform debugging.

Experience of virtual computing technologies, which must include VMware Horizon View.

Ability to troubleshoot infrastructure and client issues is paramount.

Experience of Application delivery technologies. Remote App, App volumes, App-V Knowledge of hypervisors, networking technologies, storage subsystems, as it pertains to integrate into an overall VDI solution.

Experience using and understanding of automated software distribution and remote access tools.

Experience with planning, directing, and documenting significant technical initiatives.

Excellent skills in Scripting, Automation of Installation

Preferred Experience:

VMware Certified Professional certification or higher preferred Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) preferred.

Agile, Six Sigma, Scrum Product Owner or ITIL Foundation certifications preferred.

3+ years work experience with VMware Horizon View preferred).
