Senior Network Engineer - Principle Lead

Overview

The Principal Engineer Lead Network Engineer III is responsible for leading a team of network engineers, involved in the network planning, design, and implementation of Client’s campus, data centers, and reservation centers network infrastructure.

This is a technical leadership role reporting to the Senior Manager of Network Engineering.

Working in collaboration with and directing other network engineers, the position has the responsibility for driving campus, data center and reservation center network design and implementation by translating business requirements into repeatable design strategies that are adaptable, scalable, and provide high availability.

The position requires providing vision, points of view, execution, network hardware selection, and point solutions for the enterprise campus, data center, and reservation center that support critical information technology systems and key business applications.

Responsibilities

Working with other IT organizations such as Enterprise Engineering, IT Security and Risk Management, Platform Engineering, Unified Communications, Network Operations, Critical Facilities, Storage Engineering, Network Provisioning, and other IT business divisions; prioritize, plan, design, coordinate, test and assign ownership for network engineering.
Develop and deliver detailed network engineering diagrams, complete technical documentation, and develop change scripts, using various tools such as; MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS Word, MS Visio and other tools.

Lead and participate in the planning, design, and implementation of IT infrastructure projects.

Initiates, facilitates and promotes activities to create network engineering awareness within the organization.

Understand network trends and best practices within the industry and align them within company business directives.

Education / Certification

Bachelor’s degree preferably in Information Technology or equivalent work experience, education, or training preferred.

CCNP, CCIE, CCSE, or CISSP, ITIL, Cloud Certifications and other industry recognized IT network/security related certifications a plus.

Knowledge/Skills

Ability to create planning, design, and implementation documents in power point and present them to engineering and management audiences required.

Strong Business Acumen.

Ability to resolve conflict, drives project completion, and collaborates with other teams.

Strong verbal and written skills.

A consulting background is a plus.

Knowledge and subject matter expertise in various infrastructure products and services including but not limited to: PCI, Checkpoint Firewalls, Cisco Firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPN, Palo Alto Firewalls, Sourefire IDS, Juniper VPN, Aruba Wireless IDS, Cisco network solutions, Client networking solutions, F5, Infoblox, Riverbed WAN optimization, Virtual Security Gateways, VMware, and MS Hyper-V.

Demonstrated leadership, problem solving and creative thinking capabilities.

Ability to align business requirements into technical requirements.

Experience with Software Defined Data Center technologies a plus.

Orchestration and Automation experience to include scripting capabilities a plus.

Experience working with cloud providers specifically focusing on network connectivity.

Proficient in routing protocols OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP

Expertise in L2/L3 technologies utilizing various platforms.

Ten plus years’ experience in the IT network industry, at least eight of them in a large enterprise providing networking architecture, engineering and operations required.
