Job Description
Data Engineer
The successful candidate will provide leadership and coordination on all technical aspects of development and maintenance of our data warehouse and line of business application database systems.
The candidate must ensure strategy aligns with the enterprise data management and analytics architecture (including data quality, data warehousing, data integration, metadata management, business intelligence, analysis, & reporting, and diagnostic & predictive analytics).
This position requires a detailed-oriented, hands-on manager who will work closely with business, development, and BI teams on the analysis and design of database solutions.
What you’ll do:
Provide technical leadership in design and development activities on concurrent complex data projects composed of on and offshore teams
Lead the other integration team members in the design, implementation and documentation of solutions for daily issues/support, release management, and new projects
Perform extensive design, development, testing, and performance tuning of ETL processes within SSIS to support the collection of data from disparate systems for the purpose of
storing in a Data Warehouse (Redshift)
Lead development of ETL source and target mapping design/specifications and other artifacts based on the business requirements and ETL standards and architecture
Develop, document, and execute SQL/stored procedures/server scripts as needed to support ETL code
Capture & analyze business requirements to formulate data warehouse/business intelligence solutions to support BI strategy
Develop and document interfaces with external systems that exchange data with Data warehouse
Provide technical guidance to developers in designing and implementing complex enterprise application databases requiring high performance and availability
Manage coordination with other departments regarding consistency and accuracy of data
Troubleshoot and correct issues with existing BI solutions
Partner with PMO, technical leads, cross functional business and IT teams for strategic and operational projects aligned with business priorities
What you’ll need:
5+ years of demonstrable experience with database and ETL technologies
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field or equivalent.
Strong leadership skills - Prior experience serving as a team lead, directing activities of other developers, partnering with Project managers to create a successful project plan, experience identifying potential risks and proposing mitigation strategies, etc.
Ability to mentor other staff members
Ability to interact with all levels of management and stakeholders
Experience with Power BI or Tableau
Extensive experience with ETL methodology, procedures, development and testing
Significant experience in development, maintenance, and enhancements of ETL Mappings,
Work-flows, and processes
Strong knowledge and extensive experience with SSIS
Familiar with AWS ecosystem including S3 and Redshift databases.
Working knowledge of database back-end systems, including SQL Server 2008 R2 / 2012, MySQL, MongoDB.
Excellent writing and communication skills
Excellent analytical, organization, presentation and facilitation skills; ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadline.
Excellent attention to detail enjoys data wrangling, understanding and ensuring data at the lowest level is accurate and fully reconcilable.
