Job Description

Senior Quality Assurance Automation Engineer

The role is a unique opportunity in our IT (Information Technology) division for a high performance and energetic QA Automation Engineer.

This individual will manage a QA team to design and implement test automation frameworks and establish quality assurance standards and measures for the IT services within the organization.

This individual will not only be hands-on in the design and implementation of test automation software, but will also lead and mentor the QA members in test automation implementation.

Strong leadership with project management skills will be required to lead the team in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment but will still need to maintain discipline and focus on the IT quality assurance goals.

This individual will be accountable for working across multiple IT areas to develop and promote best practices in the software testing lifecycle and test automation.

What you'll do:

Drive cross functional IT teams to develop QA strategic plan for IT test automation as part of overall IT development process.

Develop test automation processes and procedures that can effectively be used across all applications that run on various platforms.

Develop test automation frameworks for web-based applications on desktop and mobile devices (cross-browser and cross-device compatibilities).

Develop performance test scripts for business critical applications.

70% of time hands-on to design, implement, and maintain test automation frameworks and performance test scripts.

30% of time to manage/lead the QA team on automated and manual tests, and be the mentor of QA team members on test automation skills.

Scope test automation efforts and build solid test automation project milestones and timelines.

Drive the QA team to focus on GUI test framework initially, then expand to API driven testing eventually, and possibly expand to continuous testing.

Drive the QA team to focus on the critical path items while delegating non-critical path items to QA team members.

Drive the team to the development of test automation standards and best practices and maintain a common documentation library of standardized processes and procedures.

Support Application Development Leads and Dev Ops to define and implement the test automation environment.

Lead the QA team to develop and establish quality assurance measures and testing standards for new applications, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout their development/product lifecycles.

Proactively work with cross functional teams (business team, business analyst, project manager, IT development, and IT Dev Ops) to develop a strong understanding of the test objectives.

What you'll need:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related engineering discipline.

3 to 5 years experience designing, implementing, and maintaining automation frameworks.

5 to 7 years experience writing automated test scripts in one of the following languages:
C#, PHP, Java, Ruby, Python, or JavaScript.

5 to 7 years experience writing maintainable, resilient, cross-browser, automated test scripts using Selenium and Sauce Labs.

3 years experience writing performance/load test scripts in JMeter.

Proven understanding of web application technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, JSON).

Advanced SQL and database querying skills.

Excellent understanding of object oriented design principles.

Experience with source control systems and configuration management.

Familiarity with continuous integration tools.

Strong leadership ability in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment while still maintaining discipline is a must.

Exceptional analytical, debugging, and problem solving skills.

Certified Software Test Automation Specialist is a plus.

Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
