INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER - SYSTEMS

Plano, TX

$90k - $100k+ DOE



THE POSITION:

The Infrastructure Engineer is a vital role within the Information Technology team.

The Infrastructure Engineer is a hands-on tactical player who will implement and maintain all facets of the company's Infrastructure supporting the Regional Offices, Sales/Field Offices, the datacenters (both on-premise and cloud ecosystems), and the connectivity, systems, and security between all points.

This position will have a slightly heavier focus on servers/systems, but will support all things infrastructure.

Supporting the Infrastructure Manager, this new position will manage the company's Infrastructure from implementation through maintenance of the physical networks, servers, operating systems, firewalls, Internet connectivity, virtualization, business applications, and both information and data security.

This position is also responsible for collaborating with third-party vendors who provide network services, core business applications, and system functionality.

This Infrastructure Engineer position demands strong knowledge of Server/Systems Management/Virtualization and Network Management with an emphasis on current cloud technologies (e.g., Azure, Hosted Exchange), and administration of the Microsoft Stack (Server, Exchange, System Center, Windows 10, Direct Access, and O365, etc.).

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Server Management

Support all current server hardware both locally and in offsite datacenter.

Support all current server software including Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft
Exchange, Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Systems Center
Operations Manager, (SCOM), etc.

Manage VMware/Hyper-V environment.

Maintain user accounts, e-mail addresses, & folder permissions in Active Directory.

Monitor and administer recurring backup tasks to ensure all data is adequately protected and recoverable (including all SQL databases).

Perform basic user adds, moves and changes on Regional Office phone system.
Network Management

Monitor and continually evaluate the network architecture across the enterprise.

This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, and optimizing all local and wide area networks, VoIP, Internet, and other data communication platforms.

Configure, install, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, etc.

Implement and maintain a network health management system continually monitoring network load and performance, and act appropriately.

Ensure enterprise is leveraging fault tolerance, redundancy, disaster recovery, scalability, performance, and cost efficiency best practices where necessary.

Troubleshoot and resolve all network issues in timely manner.

Desktop/Mobile Administration

Create and manage Active Directory group policies to support a consistent desktop/laptop environment.

Create packages/scripts to automate the deployment of software applications and updates.

Support desktop applications including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc.

Ensure all systems are current with applicable security patches and anti-virus updates.

Support remote connectivity to all internal and cloud hosted resources.

Respond to incoming Regional and Sales Office support desk tickets from users needing assistance with hardware and software.

Follow all support issues to full resolution, providing after-hours support where appropriate.

Security Management

Responsible for ensuring the secure operation of all systems in the enterprise.

Establish, implement, and ensure compliance of all IT Security Policies.

Research vendors and products and implement solutions which meet the needs of the business while maintaining security standards.

Regularly review security dashboards, system configurations, alerts, and logs to detect and respond to vulnerabilities or suspicious activity.

Vulnerability management, documentation, and remediation:

Perform ongoing penetration testing and vulnerability scans (internal and external).

Creation and maintenance of an incident response plan and security policies. Test plan annually.

24x7 response to security alerts.

Develop and maintain system hardening standards.

Partner with internal IT teams to address security concerns and manage the remediation process.


SKILLS/EXPERIENCE YOU NEED TO HAVE:

Bachelor's degree in relevant technical field preferred, or 4+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

4+ years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related area, during which both professional and tactical capabilities have been clearly demonstrated.

Windows Server 2003/2008/2012 Active Directory and Group Policies.

Demonstrated Windows performance tuning and troubleshooting skills.

Windows Server Administration to include Active Directory, Exchange, SQL and IIS technologies.

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) (e.g., Rackspace).

Microsoft Office 365.

Windows networking with Microsoft Windows 7/10 and Windows Server 2008/2012/2016.

Windows PowerShell scripting to automate common tasks.

System deployment life cycle and change management methodologies.

Supporting various mobile operating systems (iOS, Android).

Drive imaging technologies for system deployment.

Remote Access technologies (Remote Desktop Services, VDI, and/or Citrix).

Industry standard Network certifications strongly preferred (CCNA, Network +, etc)

Basic Cisco Route/Switch/Firewall experience (currently have Cisco Meraki)

General Internet concepts (Web, DNS, SMTP, FTP, Search engines).

Networking (TCP/IP, IP addressing) and Telecommunications.

Network security concepts (Patch Management, Anti-Virus, Spyware).

Platform as a Service (PaaS) (e.g., MS Azure, AWS, etc.).

Able to maintain, troubleshoot and upgrade computers independently.

Able to independently install and upgrade applications and software as required.

Able to help non-technical people solve technical problems while maintaining a positive attitude.

Extremely strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Outstanding verbal, written and visual presentation skills.

Proven strong negotiating and consensus building abilities.

Proven skills to work effectively across internal functional areas in ambiguous situations.

Structured thinker and effective communicator, comfortable with interacting with constituents.

Ability to work independently, establishing strategic objectives, project plans and milestone goals.
