Job Description

Quality Control Automated Testing Engineer

We are working with a firm located in the Loop of Chicago.

They are looking for a Quality Control Automated Testing Engineer.

This is a level II position who will work on a team of Engineers.

This person will be responsible for building and sustaining automated test cases, while maintaining the automation strategy and related processes and procedures.

This QC Automated Testing Engineer supports the evolution, updating and acquisition of related test tools.

Additionally, this position is responsible for assessing systems for application of automation using entrance and prioritization criteria and then making recommendations accordingly.

Responsibilities:

The development of test cases and test plans

Maintenance and evolution of the test automation process, leveraging automation to facilitate functional/regression testing, test data generation, etc.

QC systems (e.g., Micro Focus ALM and UFT) management and maintenance

Provide input associated with automation activities to QC Leads for use in QC plans/strategy documents

Develop accurate duration/effort estimates for automation activities and delivery to timelines and expectations

Responsible for creating, running, maintaining and managing automated functional test cases to validate requirements in an economic and efficient manner

Relevant vendor relationship management with regards to maintenance, support and problem solving

Partnering with project teams to verify defect fixes and conduct regression testing against new and existing applications

Prepare reports on testing progress and effectively communicate testing status to project team

Responsible for exploring additional ways (i.e., test data generation and environment setup) in which automation can be leveraged

Interface with relevant QC Analysts to clarify requirements, to obtain relevant test case information, to address test environment arrangements (e.g., access and privileges), to understand test case and/or scope changes, etc.

Identifies, communicates and tracks system deviations and quality metrics in a manner that facilitates resolution and helps system stakeholders understand risks

Aligns working hours as necessary to support global teams and business partners

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems or related field.

An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the job

3 - 5 years of experience in the creation and maintenance of automated functional tests for a variety of applications using Micro Focus Unified Functional Test (UFT) 11.0 or higher and VBScript required

Good experience with UFT .Net and Web Add-ins, XML/HTML, as well as Descriptive
Programming, required

Proven experience using contemporary testing tools including defect tracking tools

Strong programming skills are necessary to effectively develop and maintain a variety of automated test cases

Advanced knowledge of MS Office application suite is preferred. Minimally, an intermediate level of proficiency with relevant office automation software (e.g., MS
Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, etc.) is required

Understands relational database theory and has experience using SQL in support of verification activities

Experience in interpreting design specifications, functional requirements documents, and use cases, while providing feedback relevant to Automation concerns

Experience using Virtualization Technology (e.g., VMWare, Client/Server Snapshots and Cloning) as part of a test environment desired

Exhibits diversity in the types of systems, technologies and projects to which automation has been applied successfully

Micro Focus UFT Certification a plus

Proven ability to effectively multi-task, work under pressure, and meet strict deadlines

Excellent written and oral communication skills and a keen level of attention to detail

Ability to adapt to different cultures and work environments

Ability to fully understand the functional and business requirements of a software application
