Job Description

Accounting Manager

Accounting Manager Summary:

The candidate’s primary responsibilities will be to oversee the general ledger accounting responsibilities for all areas of the Company’s businesses, which includes weekly flash reporting, quarter-end close, financial reporting and internal controls.

Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for providing accounting assistance in support of all facets of the closing, reporting and budgeting processes, streamlining procedures, and assisting in the ongoing review of the SOX internal control process.
This individual will also be involved in a number of ad-hoc projects.

Overtime will be required at times.

Accounting Manager Primary Responsibilities:

Provide accounting leadership and direction to the accounting department and other groups throughout the company

Oversee the maintain and closing of the general ledger for all areas of the Company’s business

Provide impactful financial statement analysis

Design and implement process improvements and best practices

Review of account reconciliations and journal entries

Review and prepare critical and significant journal entries and accruals

Review lease accounting and related rent and occupancy costs for completeness and accuracy

Preparation of accounting and reporting deliverable as well as various management reports

Partner with FP&A teams to analyze weekly, monthly and quarterly business results in detail

Assist in preparation for quarter-end close P&L review meetings

Partner with operations, merchandising and other groups throughout the organization and become a business partner to these individuals

Support external quarterly reviews and year-end audits (financial and statutory)

Manage and develop the team of accountants

Maintain internal control procedures and ensure compliance with SOX requirements

Assist with Ad-hoc assignments and special projects

Accounting Manager Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

Results orientated, flexible, resourceful and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple deliverables

Strong time-management skills, and ability to adhere to accounting close timelines

Experienced in managing and driving improvements and change within a finance function

Ability to work independently and adhere to tight deadlines

Proficiency in Excel and other applications

Experience with Cognos, MicroStrategy and Oracle general ledger a plus (but not required)

Retail or Wholesale experience a plus (but not required)



Accounting Manager Education and Experience:

7-10 years of experience preferably a mix of public accounting firm and a private general ledger accounting, with "Big 4 experience a plus

Basic knowledge/navigation of general ledger applications

BS in Accounting

CPA or MBA a plus
