Job Description
Position Overview:
The HR Generalist will interact with all exempt and non-exempt staff for the Company with regard to Payroll and Human Resources-related issues.
This individual must be able to intuitively and instinctively handle issues and answers for the staff without jeopardizing the integrity or basic directives of the management staff; and subsequently for the corporation.
Will process time records, compile payroll statistics, maintain payroll control records, and calculate payroll for all employees.
Will assist with coordinating personnel-related activities, including but not limited to: employment, compensation, benefits, training resources and materials, recruiting and employee services.
Utilize ADP Workforce Now operating system, which includes Time Clock Manager, and ADP Custom Reporting applications.
Payroll involves: six active payroll codes; bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls.
Key Responsibilities:
Reviews personnel records to determine names, rates of pay, and occupations of newly hired workers, as well as changes in wage rates and occupations of employees on payroll
Records new or changed pay rates in payroll register or computer files
Compilation and preparation of other payroll data such as 401(k), FSA, and insurance
Reviews and implements wage garnishments and other payroll deductions
Interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures
Preparation of payroll-related government reports
Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of payroll and payroll reporting; issues written and oral instructions
Reviews payroll to ensure accuracy, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures
Keeps the Human Resources Director (and the officers, when pertinent) abreast of current issues, problems, and employee concerns. May assist the HR Director in making decisions
about maintaining confidentiality.
Assists with the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or
local governing bodies, or other departments within the organization
Studies legislation and employer/employee relations reports to assess industry trends
Processes tax filings with ADP
Responsible for some aspects of recruiting
Conducts duties in accordance with Company’s Quality system
Complies with Company’s C-TPAT Security Profile

Professional Experience / Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in HRM or related education preferred
2-4 years of HR experience
Experience in ADP Workforce Now & ADP Time Clock systems
Experience in the transportation or logistics industry is preferable
Experience with benefit enrollment (Fidelity)
Profieciency with MS Excel
