Job Description
Summary of Position:
The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) documents and communicates how the Association operates, and desires to operate, its business by analyzing and synthesizing information provided by stakeholders, subject matter experts, technology professionals, and executives as well as other appropriate internal people and departments.
The BSA is responsible for interacting with various Association teams to clearly and thoroughly define business needs and requirements, providing all stakeholders with visibility to the true scope of projects.
The BSA works closely with peers in IT to communicate and clarify business objectives, detailed requirements, and testing scenarios.
The BSA is responsible for identifying and documenting business requirements, development specifications, and business process changes related to the LMS transformation project using industry standard analysis techniques such as data flow modeling, workflow analysis, user stories and use cases.
The BSA will assist in advising business and technical teams on options and risks of implementing requirements and solutions.
The BSA will frequently interact with the business stakeholders to understand the processes associated with each functional area and their interactions with the various systems.
Additionally, the Business Analyst must be able to communicate requirements to the technical teams.
Responsibilities
Elicit and organize business / project requirements
Produce functional design documents, requirements traceability matrix, and user stories
Manage, analyze, and develop business requirements at the project level to help fulfill business needs
Perform gap analysis to ensure requirements are fulfilled in other deliverables
Serves as a functional/domain expert on the project team
Work with other team members to manage scope
Principle Duties:
Following the lead of a Manager, work with business stakeholders to identify, assess and document business and technical requirements. Strong attention to detail is essential.
Participate in user workshops to define requirements. Write use and business cases, and propose workflow processes.
When appropriate to help illustrate requirements, develop page wireframes or page mock-ups. May develop process diagrams.
Participate in design sessions and solution design decisions
Research and document system features and functionality.
Assist in the development of options, risks, and costs of identified solutions.
Conduct research and assist in the determination of solution alternatives.
As needed, assist Quality Assurance team in translating requirements to test scenarios and plans.
Meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
Position Specifications:
Essential Technical Skills/Experience:
Bachelor's degree required in MIS, computer science, mathematics, business or related fields or equivalent knowledge and/or work experience.
3 + years in Business Analysis, Quality Assurance, Development, Project Management or related field.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio)
