Job Description

We have a large privately owned retail company that's looking for a District Human Resources Manager to join their growing department. In the broadest terms, a District HR Manager is the first point of contact for all things HR in an assigned district.

Essential Job Duties:

Working closely with the HR function to support your client group, this position is accountable for leading in the following functional areas: HR compliance, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action, workplace investigations, and employment law compliance.

A successful HR Manager will be able to act as the primary HR Business Partner to the District Manager, who oversees approximately 10 retail stores in an assigned region.

Associates must be able to perform the essential functions of this position satisfactorily:

General HR concepts, practices, principles, tools and processes (rewards, talent and leadership philosophies and strategies).

Understand and apply the company's basic HR philosophies, strategies, tools, and processes in own business area.

Understands and applies employment law practices to meet the specific circumstances

COACHING & CONSULTING SKILL – Ability to coach individuals and teams to improve effectiveness, and present the tough issues in a way they can be heard and acted upon.

Ability to focus on the issue that draws the team together

Ability to use group process skills to consult

Ability to articulate complex and confrontational circumstances without incurring hostility

Demonstrate the courage to speak the unspeakable

PERSONAL LEADERSHIP PRESENCE—Demonstrate the ability to earn trust with all levels of the organization.

Ability to build partnerships with merchandizers, front of store, and store management

REQUIREMENTS

Familiarity with federal, local and state labor laws for area of regional responsibility

A bachelor's degree in any field, plus three- to five years of HR generalist experience

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, plus three years of HR experience is ideal.

PHR certification is a plus.

At least 3 years of generalist Human Resources experience.

Must have ability to keep information confidential and handle situations appropriately.

Knowledge of HR fundamentals such as benefits, compensation, staffing, employee relations, labor relations, diversity and inclusion, training and development

Demonstrated ability to apply employment law to workplace issues

Demonstrated experience in applying performance management practices

Demonstrated ability to consult effectively and independently with all levels of a diverse organization

Strong communication and analytical skills

Ability to work in a team environment while managing and executing tasks with multiple conflicting priorities

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to Travel is required for this position.
