Job description: Reinsurance Accountant I
Summary
The Reinsurance Accountant will play a key role in supporting the goals and objectives of our client.
The role interacts with Underwriting, Claims and Actuarial departments to ensure the proper interpretation and recognition of complex reinsurance agreements.

Responsibilities
Prepare workpapers, general ledger entries and reconciliations of various accounts including but not limited to underwriting, claim, reinsurance, banking and investment activities to ensure sub-ledger is complete and up to date for all transactions
Prepare quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP/Statutory financial schedules and disclosures for reinsurance balances and assist with the preparation of GAAP to Statutory walks for presentation to management.
Provide support on ceded reinsurance programs including collaboration and production of ceded premium and loss accounting, reinsurance premium and loss allocation, reinsurance receipt and disbursement processes. Including, timely and accurate preparing and distribution of Account Statements and Bordereaux as assigned.
Timely and accurate processing/settlement (payment and collection) of assigned reinsurance account statements; including, ensuring all aged balances are fully documented and supported
Verify ceded facultative certificate and contracts (Quota Share, XOL, etc.)
Prepare, develop and maintain reinsurance bad debt reserve provision for GAAP/Statutory
Assist and maintain collateral funding requirements related to unauthorized reinsurance balances and work with the Treasury team in tracking LOC's on a quarterly basis and submission to the Reinsurers.
Follow up with clients to clarify queries and obtain missing information and coordinate with other departments (Underwriting, claims, etc.)
Completion of Key Assignments/Special Projects that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
1- 3+ years' experience in Accounting/Finance; with emphasis on Insurance/Reinsurance background
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Insurance
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage workload to meet assigned deadlines, in fast-paced
environment, with a high work ethic to get the job done
Has strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills, with the ability to adapt to new circumstances, information, and challenges with a positive attitude
Collaborate with internal and external customers; understand the needs and goals of a customer and
actively look for ways to meet them
Proficiency in MS Office with strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Macros) and experience in
working with Oracle ERP ledgers are a big plus
Public/Auditing experience a plus but, not required
