Compensation Accountant



Compensation Accountant - Overview of Role:

The position will assist the Compensation and General Ledger teams on a multitude of tasks; the role will require independent work to produce reconciliations and bonus calculations, as well as team projects. The Compensation and General Ledger departments work to strict deadlines that cannot be changed.



Compensation Accountant Job duties:

Calculate performance-based compensation for all desks assigned within deadline provided.
Book monthly accrual journal entries for performance-based compensation.
Review on a monthly basis any changes to broker contracts or bonus calculations, and update compensation calculations accordingly to ensure bonus accruals are recorded accurately.
Distribute and communicate broker commission calculations to the Desk Heads and Senior Management.
Prepare monthly journal entries for employee related activity: non-performance based bonuses, COBRA, life insurance, disability, medical & dental, pension, headcount,
Prepare monthly staff costs report with annotations which are distributed to front office management.
Prepare and input annual budget and forecast as it relates to compensation.
Reconcile monthly bonus accrual and other payroll related balance sheet accounts.
Assist with internal and external audits, providing reconciliations and supporting documents that relate to compensation accounting.
Provide ad-hoc analysis and perform special projects as required
Compensation Accountant Skills and Experience:

• BS in Accounting or Finance

• 3+ years relevant experience in General Ledger and/or Compensation Accounting

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP)

• Experience working with Oracle Financials and Essbase would be advantageous

• Strong accounting skills; experience with reconciliations

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent organizational and time management skills

• A team player

• Ability to work independently

• Energetic, enthusiastic and flexible
