Job Description

DB2 DATABASE ENGINEER

FULL-TIME

DALLAS, TX

POSITION:

ICS is looking for a Database Engineer, with DB2 LUW experience, to join our growing client's team in Dallas, TX.

You will provide hands on Database Operations management, oversight and governance for key systems administration initiatives and ensure the integrity of the distributed platform hosting services for various critical payment applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide database subject matter expertise and support all aspects of the DB2 database environment including administration and maintenance, business continuity including backup and recovery, capacity management, change management, security management, and installationconfiguration management in production and non-production environments

Provide 24×7 on call DBA support for production environment on rotation and need basis

Extensive knowledge of core DB2 database components such as high availability/federation/replication

Design database workloads for optimum configuration and performance of the DB2 infrastructure

Respond, track and escalate production issues effectively and with urgency

Diagnose and address database performance issues using monitorslerts and various tuning techniques

Perform proactive monitoring and tuning activities across the database ecosystem including network, storage, and servers to optimize the environment and the supporting architecture in cooperation with the
Systems Administrator staff

Implement physical database infrastructure designs, analyze and provide recommendations for database logicalphysical requirements to the user department, applications programming and operations

Convert logical data models provided by the application development teams into physical database structures and functional capabilities of database and underlying components

Recommend database solutions aligned with the organizational initiatives and recognized problem areas

Architect, deploy and champion adherence of database best practice methodologies to stakeholders across the estate

Architect, implement and validate backup and recovery procedures in compliance with recovery time and recovery point objectives

Ensure synchronicity between application lifecycle environments related to infrastructure components

Coordinate with the application development team to ensure the continuity of the database applications related to upgrades, versions, patches, and new releases

Collaborate with the Security department to design and implement corporate database security standards

Create, maintain and present detailed technical documentation and executive summaries necessary to support the database operations for key stakeholders, including senior management

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/work experience

Minimum of 7+ years professional experience with 5+ years database experience or equivalent

Extensive experience using database operating systems and administration, specifically DB2 LUW

Extensive understanding of DB2 database internals, performance tuning and troubleshooting techniques

Deep knowledge and hands on experience with Linux, UNIX and Windows Operating Systems

Very good knowledge within the DB2 ecosystem concerning database, CPU and memory use, high availability solutions, and backup & recovery

Experience in performance tuning and production support on financial based applications is a plus

Proficient in multiple infrastructure disciplines and functions

Proficient in C/C++, Java, JavaScript, Perl, Python or ksh

Experience with SQL Server technologies

Extensive experience designing and developing enterprise software solutions

Experience with agile development methodologies

Experience with source control management systems and continuous integration methodologies

Experience with debugging, performance profiling and optimization

Comprehensive understanding of object-oriented and service-oriented application development theories, including native cloud computing techniques

Experience working across large infrastructure environments and distributed across multiple data centers
