Job Description

CLOUD NETWORK ARCHITECT

A global financial institution is actively seeking an experienced Network Architect to join their local team. The Network Architect will provide leadership in network design, validation, deployment, maintenance, and 24x7 operational supports. The ideal Network Architect should have Vxlan/EVPN design and deployment experience, AWS/Azure networking and Python. You will work on further advancing one of the largest and global financial networks with a wide variety of critical services as well as help drive large scale datacenter refreshes both on-premise and Cloud. The successful candidate must be able to multitask in a dynamic team-based environment demonstrating strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities and the highest degree of professionalism.



Responsibilities

Design, deploy, support and maintain mixed vendor network infrastructure

Develop, document, and publish architectural standards and designs

Assist other teams with problem solving and escalation procedures

Understand and follow operational policies/procedures and promote adherence to same

Provide technical knowledge needed to ensure safe, effective, and efficient changes to the network infrastructure

Assist with development of policies and procedures for maintaining network infrastructure

Collaborate and work closely with all other IT teams

Lead Incident investigations, diagnosis, and service restoration and always give priority to the resolution of incidents

Be a Subject Matter Expert able to provide guidance to other engineers (troubleshooting, design, on-boarding, risk mitigation, operational improvement)

Maintain technical vendor relations to understand and influence technical product roadmaps

Should work well with teammates locally and at remote offices; shares knowledge and is seen as someone to go to for help; contributes in weekly peer meetings

Demonstrates a sense of urgency; takes ownership of problems and follows temporary fixes with permanent solution; finds creative solutions. Improves processes and introduces superior technology

Communication should be clear and accurate in verbal and written communication; listens to peers and supported employees; follows directions and provides useful feedback

Requirements

10+ years experience hands on support and troubleshooting of networks

6+ years experience with design and implementation on complex networks

Running and analysing sniffer traces with deep TCP/IP protocol understanding

Extensive network routing protocols and troubleshooting skills in BGP and OSPF

Extensive Knowledge of IP Multicast - RP, PIM, IGMP and MSDP

Good Python programming skills

Experience automating Azure or AWS cloud deployments

In depth knowledge of general network principles and technology and also how to apply them in a service oriented mission critical environment.

Ability to grasp very complex architectural concepts

Ability to lead technical projects from design through implementation and rollout.

Breadth and understanding of current and future network technology direction.

Good knowledge of Cisco, Juniper products and/or Arista products and EOS

Basic Unix/Linux system administration

Strong configuration management and scripting experience (Ansible, Python, etc.)

Understanding of network management, security and monitoring

Experience working on financial and HFT networks with Good understanding exchange protocols (FIX etc.) desired but not required

Network certifications preferred: CCIE, JNCIE. Etc.

F5, Checkpoint, or Palo Alto advanced certification

In-depth hardware knowledge of switches and routers: (Internal chipsets specifications, TCAM and memory details, buffering capabilities and multicast replication details).

Excellent writing and documentation skills

Excellent customer service attitude

Ability to operate effectively and professionally under pressure
