Job Description
BUSINESS ANALYST
Seeking an experienced Business Analyst with a background in Data to join an established organization. The Business Analyst serves as a liaison between the Data Analytics/Data Scientists and end users to analyze requirements and review/produce specifications for any change to technology applications. The Business Analyst is integral in supporting the infrastructure needed for machine learning and helping customers reduce their distribution costs. A background in logistics and/or manufacturing is helpful. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Responsibilities:
Communicates business priorities to the technology organization in order to drive effective business solutions
Conducts research to determine if solutions to business requirements currently exist within or outside the business unit, and if not, whether new solutions are feasible
Facilitates requirement and design sessions with user community and communicates these requirements to the development team for the design and implementation of solutions
Analyzes impact of proposed solution across the business
Develops use cases to explain/demonstrate business requirements/specifications to the Technical team, and contributes business partner's perspective during design reviews
Provides input to the development of formal business cases when enterprise wide business solutions are proposed
Able to understand business functionality and translate it into application requirements
Ability to create compelling business cases with accurate cost and effort estimations
Partners with business and technology partners to elicit, analyze, translate, and document business requirements into technical requirements
Analyzes, documents and tests program development, logic, process flows and specifications
Partners with business partners to conduct user acceptance testing
Documents user manuals to describe application installation and operating procedures
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer technology, or related fields
4+ years experience as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst with a focus on managing complex sets of data and writing use cases/stories
Experience in managing complex technical data sets required
Multi-disciplined (able to perform other tasks in parallel with their duties as a BA that makes them versatile and adaptable)
Previous experience working with Data Science is helpful but not required
Background working within logistics and/or manufacturing is helpful but not required
Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into operational and project requirements
Worked as business analyst in full SDLC life cycle for software maintenance / development / implementation projects
Understanding of business complexity and project inter dependencies
Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems that may arise in work products
Ability to create workflow diagrams and wireframes
Strong knowledge of requirement elicitation and documentation
Experience in creating project scope documents and change requests
In depth understanding of various software development methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall)
Self-motivated and proactive
Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong documentation skills
Strong organization skills
Able to work in a collaborative environment
