Role Summary:

Opportunity to join an established Global IT Operations team and work as a "US Lead DevOps” Engineer.
The optimal team member has a background in and past exposure to Development, QA, Infrastructure, DevOps, and/or Application Support.

They are energetic and enthusiastic, have excellent analytical skills, precise attention to detail, a love for rolling up their sleeves, a passion for not only technology but also for working with other people, and are smart, hungry, and curious.

The Engineer will work as part of a Global team whose primary responsibility is to safely, quickly and efficiently get value-adding work into production and keep it there.

To do this, the team ensures that systems and processes have appropriate documentation and escalation procedures, monitoring systems are configured to ensure maximum visibility, appropriate testing has been performed, the Systems Development Lifecycle has been followed, and that systems have been architected and implemented in a robust and reliable manner.

Individual responsibilities include administering and maintaining core technology systems, developing expertise in off the shelf and proprietary systems at the firm, supporting production systems, acting as an escalation point for other IT Operations teams, configuring and optimizing automation systems and monitoring environments, and process improvement through scripted task automation.

Key responsibilities:

Assist management in leading the US Enterprise Command Center team.

Automate system administration functions scheduled jobs.

Maintain business critical data transmission via MQ, (S)FTP, APPIA FIX.

Provide technical support for business applications, working with stakeholders.

Develop technical expertise in off-the-shelf and proprietary systems such as Advent Geneva, Advent
Syncova, JIRA, Autosys, Orchestrator, TeamCity, SVN, Git, etc.

Script and provision QA, UAT, and Production releases for development teams.

Coordinate with other technology teams to ensure adherence with SDLC procedures.

Proactive monitoring and maintenance to maintain the health of environments.

Implement and improving system monitoring for early problem escalation.

Track and document support issues via ServiceNow, JIRA and Confluence.

Follow and improve Incident Management and Change Management procedures.

Provide excellent customer care to all internal stakeholders and clients.

Document environments and procedures for use by IT Operations.

On-Call rotations and out-of-hours work as needed.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

3-5+ years' experience in a lead Application Support / DevOps Engineer role.

Scripting experience in at least one language (e.g. Powershell, Python, Perl)

Strong working knowledge of SQL.

Familiarity with at least one CI platform (e.g. TeamCity, Bamboo, Jenkins)

Exposure to at least one message queue (MQ) platform (e.g. IBM MQ, 0MQ, RabbitMQ)

Windows Server experience.

Excellent analytical / troubleshooting skills.

Excellent documentation skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Quick and eager to learn new technologies.

Highly Desirable:

Familiarity with enterprise schedulers (e.g. AutoSys, Orchestrator)

Exposure to monitoring technologies (e.g. Zabbix, Nagios, Solarwinds, eG)

Powershell scripting experience.

Experience with IBM MQ.

Linux / Unix knowledge

Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server.

Experience with source code repositories (Git, SVN).

Experience with Agile/Agile-lite development teams and SDLC processes.

Helpful:

Exposure to JIRA / Confluence administration.

Financial service experience.

Familiarity with C# / .NET.

Previous exposure to AWS technologies.

Previous exposure to FIX messaging.

Experience with ServiceNow incident tracking platform.
