AUTOMATION ENGINEER

A global financial institution is actively seeking an experienced Automation Engineer with strong Javascript skills to join their team.

By joining the Network Engineering team you will aid the organization in maintaining and operating the network as well as helping to push the envelope with state-of-the-art technologies.

You will gain invaluable hands-on experience with state of the art equipment and cutting edge technologies in the area of computer networks and a solid knowledge of network protocols, concepts and solutions.

The experience will not be limited to technology – this is also an opportunity to get a good understanding of the operation of a global organization, how global teams interact, how projects are developed, implemented and how strategies are executed.

The Automation Engineer role will require some amount of self-study but extensive internal knowledge share will be provided while working in a team of highly experienced professionals, introducing the team member to the core networking concepts and technologies.

Responsibilities

Write and maintain software that interacts with various network devices, tools, databases, and user input

Gather requirements from relevant business owners

Keep project stakeholders updated on progress

Help ensure an orderly release management and SDLC process is followed

Meet with technologists from other teams to ensure all new software appropriately captures the requirements, uses the best data sources, and does so in a secure manner

Create and maintain documentation of system components and their operation

Help train end-users on the use of any new tooling

Take ownership of tools and sub-components

Computer Science (or related field) degree

3+ years of Angular and/or Python in a professional setting

Strong software development skills in Javascript and preferably experience with C, Go (golang), Python

Familiarity with development automation tools (e.g. maven, composer, pip)

Familiarity with Linux operating systems

Ability to work with JSON, XML, YAML, and proprietary data interchange formats

Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with others on both an ad hoc and project team basis, across organizational boundaries

Comfortable with database technologies and terminology



Beneficial skills

Ability to use RESTful and SOAP/XML APIs

Familiarity with a DVCS (e.g. git, hg)

Knowledge of common network services, SNMP/syslog/DNS/NTP/PTP etc

Knowledge of general network principles and technology in WAN and LAN infrastructures, VLANs, subnetting, simple routing etc.

Familiarity with NETCONF, Arista's eAPI, or NAPALM

Knowledge of Juniper products and Junos OS

Knowledge of Arista products and EOS

Knowledge of IT automation tooling (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Salt)

In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and deployments (e.g. BGP, MPLS, OSPF, IS-IS, VLANs, prefix-lists, ACLs, etc)
