Application Support Engineer
Our client is seeking an energetic and inquisitive application support engineer that is comfortable working in a hands-on environment supporting front office applications, data warehouse and the integrations with middle and back-office platforms.
This is a technical role that is business facing and requires a candidate with exceptional interpersonal skills that has a strong understanding of financial markets, trade life cycle workflows and the tools used to support them.
Key Responsibilities:
Proactively identify and remedy production support issues for front and back office teams
Liaise with service providers on platform enhancements, custom development / workflows issue tracking and escalations
Manage and support daily data ETL functions as well as back-end business processes and batch
Provide support for vendor onboarding and platform integration of external systems including order management and portfolio management systems, books and records, risk reporting and data visualization
Develop / utilize core support tools and processes to perform work while improving day-to-day practices for support team members with the goal of delivering service improvements to the business.
Contribute to platform monitoring, documentation and incident management systems
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
5+ years of experience in an application support role, preferably in a hedge fund
Expert knowledge of MS SQL design and administration
Excellent scripting skills with PowerShell or Python
Programming knowledge in C, C++ or Java`
Strong familiarity working with hedge fund service providers – Eze, SS&C, Bloomberg, Factset
Strong experience working with security / price master solutions for reference and time series data primarily sourced from Bloomberg
Strong experience in data warehouse technologies, data modeling and ETL tools
Experience with supporting data visualization platforms
Experience working within all phases of SDLC
Strong communication skills with the ability to take initiative and work independently
