Job Description

Our client, a leading Data Analytics organization, is looking to add several back-end developers to their growing development team at their Reston headquarters.

The back end developers will be responsible for the following:

Develop well-designed and performant Java applications and services using scalable technologies for RESTful services.

Develop state-of-the-art analytics tools to support diverse tasks ranging from ad hoc analysis to production-grade pipelines and workflows for customer applications.

Work closely with your team’s Tech Lead in assisting with scoping of tasks as part of our scrum process.

Engage in peer code reviews and capturing Software Design artifacts.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or 5 years of relevant work experience

3+ years of development expertise

Knowledge of Java, Maven, Git

Experience with RESTful API development.

Effective testing and software quality assurance experience, including performance profiling, static analysis, and dynamic analysis.

Experience with agile development within commercial projects or elite non-commercial research.

Affinity for learning and applying new technologies and solving new problems.

Effective organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

Desirable

Experience with Scala

(If not, don’t worry. You will have an opportunity to learn Scala!!)

Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger

Advanced mathematical modeling skills

Previous deployments of production systems onto AWS

Experience blending analytic and simulation modeling approaches to problem solving

Experience with data analytics for information security, quantitative trading, or other finance applications

Familiarity with modern development tools, including Jira, Confluence, Artifactory, and Slack.
