Java Application Development Lead/Manager

This is a contract to Hire position. The successful candidate will work in the Corporate and Investment Bank Technology group as a Software Engineering Manager overseeing a critical Payments and Fraud application.

The application, as it stands, is running legacy Java technology and we are in a position to upgrade, refactor and reposition to align towards a microservice based model.

As an Application Manager for a Critical Application in CIB we look first and foremost for people who are passionate around solving business problems through innovation & engineering practices.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

Minimum 10+ years’ experience working as a hands-on Java Software Engineering Lead

” Lead Agile feature teams implementing user stories

BS/BA degree or equivalent experience

” Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines

” Working proficiency in developmental toolsets

Knowledge of industry wide technology strategies and best practices

“Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals, and passionate about building an innovative culture

Proficiency in modern programming languages Java, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS and Angular.js Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance and software improvement

Lead Agile feature teams implementing user stories

“Working closely with analysts, testers and key business partners for effective delivery.

Essential:

” Excellent Core Java skills

” Java Frameworks i.e. Spring; Hibernate

” Spring Boot

” RESTful microservices

” Log Management with Splunk or ELK

” Apache Tomcat

” Multi-threaded Programming and Transaction Handling (JMS, Database)

” Source code control software (e.g. Git, subversion),

” Experience working on high throughput mission critical high performance platforms which have low error rates

” Some RDBMS experience exposure

Desirable (but not essential):

” Cloud foundry or Amazon AWS experience

” Experience working with a Distributed Cache (Gemfire, Hazel, Memcache)

” Experience with Micro Services, Service Orientated Architectures

” Track record delivering in Investment Bank Environment

” UNIX shell scripting (1 year +)

” MQ/JMS

” Cucumber

” Selenium

” Jenkins

” Functional Programming Languages such as Groovy
