Job Description

A Data Operations Specialist engages with institutional investors, fund managers, and industry professionals everyday through telephone and email to collect information related to portfolio/fund structure, market confidence and investment appetite across alternative asset classes.

The role is responsible for a subset of investors, fund managers, or deals in the Americas and ensures the delivery of high-quality content to clients.

Core responsibilities

Engagement

Interview institutional investors and fund managers to obtain valuable proprietary information via phone and email.

Proactively build, maintain and develop relationships with investors and fund managers.

Understand and effectively communicate value propositions for industry professionals to contribute data.

Create customized ad hoc data gifts for investors and fund managers depending on their needs.

Data Collection & Process

Own an asset class specialism (Fund, Investors, Deals) of the research department.

Develop strong working knowledge of research processes and operations.

Conduct in-depth web research (ie. regulatory filings, annual/investment reports).

Search for new sources to enhance our data coverage.

Assist in preparing and managing FOIA requests and data collectors.

Review key profile contacts which cannot be outsourced.

Update CRM with key financial information, statistics and analysis.

Process any information in the news and media.

Other responsibilities

Data Quality

Conduct quality checks on offshore web updates.

Projects & Initiatives

Support team members on ad-hoc research projects.

Requirements

Exhibit confidence to make calls and be on the phone for the majority of the day.

Take a highly proactive and enthusiastic approach to relationship building.

Rapidly build rapport via phone and email with senior professionals and institutions and possess sharp persuasive and interpersonal skills.

Are an amazing communicator, both verbally and in written materials, and all the way up to the executive level

Effective in a target-driven environment working towards set KPIs and performance metrics.

Have strong organization skills and top-notch multitasking skills, strong research capabilities and investigative instincts.

Self-motivated, meticulous and determined.

Drive to continuously improve the efficiency and impact of the process.

Love to work with teams but can also work independently to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Great ability to think systematically and thoughtfully through processes involving both technology, people and process.

Skills & Qualifications

BA/BS in Finance, Business Administration, Liberal Arts, or Economics preferred

1-2+ years of experience in equity research, private equity, venture capital, investment management or LP investment analysis preferred but not necessary

Strong interest in financial markets, detail-oriented/analytical mindset

Critical thinker

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Creative and energetic self-starter; willing to see an opportunity and run with it
