Messaging Engineer

Summary:

This Messaging Engineer position is responsible for operational support of and project initiatives involving the Messaging and Active Directory environments. This position provides maintenance, support, and enhancements of the messaging systems including Exchange, Outlook, Mobility, Proofpoint, Email archiving, Active Directory, WAN acceleration, Load Balancing & Application Performance Management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Analyzing, planning, testing and implementation of Active Directory and Messaging application software
Actively pursuing new technologies to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the Active Directory and Messaging systems
Actively pursuing new technologies to improve user experience especially in terms of Mobility
Monitoring and analyzing the Active Directory and Messaging systems to ensure 100% uptime operational availability
Support high availability technologies
Performing root cause analysis and providing recommendations to improve efficiencies and resolve problems
Resolving problems with Active Directory, Messaging and Application Performance systems and technologies
Escalating problems to vendors
Providing troubleshooting training to the User Support team
Implementation and maintenance of disaster recovery solutions
Documenting system uptime and usage metrics
Maintaining documentation of processes, procedures, troubleshooting guides and change management logs
Provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotating basis
Flexible to work overtime as required.

Education and/or Experience:

Required:

Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience in Active Directory and Messaging
Proven troubleshooting abilities
Specific Messaging experience including:

Strong expertise in Microsoft Exchange Server 2010/2016 (to include monitoring, clustering, HA/DR, backup/restore, and attached storage)

Strong expertise with Proofpoint including the multiple security features available

Strong expertise with Active Directory

Strong expertise with mail security

Strong understanding of Mobility

Strong understanding of message routing technologies

Experience with SMTP gateway tools and appliances

Experience with Messaging monitoring & reporting tools

Understanding of TLS / SPF connections to firm clients

Strong understanding of technical networking

Strong knowledge of Windows 2012 & 2016

Strong planning and analysis skills

Strong documentation skills

Strong understanding of MS Office Suite

Strong understanding of email clients
